• @funnlim OMG! Totally agree. The blue jacket, beret, short pants and white socks was terrible (the photo above does not show his full ensemble). I was joking to my sister and friends that Yibo likes to wear women's jackets. Apparently it's true. LOL. They do fit him well though because he's so skinny.
  • Impressed that she got take out from Zen! The Japanese crown melon is expensive, but also very good =)
  • @cha1 good to know. thx for the rec. good supernatural shows are hard to come by.
  • @m0m0 Hikaru No Go (the Chinese drama) is a great drama with a supernatural element to the central theme of Go (Chinese chess "wei qi"). All 36 episodes are subbed and available on iQIYI website and app. The styling of the ghost Chu Ying was a big miss, but didn't stop viewers from loving the character. No forced romance, but hilarious bromance/frenemies all the way! :)
  • I like Jackson's raspy voice and songs (love his Mirrors album), but he does sound odd in this cover. I'm not sure if he was lazy with the pronunciation, his Cantonese has regressed (very common when you don't speak the language very often) or was trying for a style that just didn't work. I do like his cover of the Jay Chou song Silence (安静) though. The rap lyrics he wrote for it was a great addition (https://youtu.be/iOxUqhv0hsc). If the MV is catered to the mainland audience, then it makes sense to display the Mandarin title and indicate it is the Cantonese version of the song the audience is familiar with.
  • Jing Boran and Xiao Zhan have beautiful handwriting as well.
  • Also want to mention that Schitt's Creek won all 7 of the Emmy awards it was nominated for this year, including best comedy series.
  • @anon Canadian shows are watched around the world. Kim's Convenience (with Simu Liu who plays Shang Chi in the new Marvel movie) and Schitt's Creek (with Eugene Levy and Katherine O'Hara) were picked up by Netflix and is very popular in Canada and the US. Both shows also have a strong cult following. There are many other shows. They may not be mainstream on US networks, but are definitely quality shows with a large audience. Otherwise there wouldn't have been multiple seasons and award recognition for the outstanding script and performances.
  • I love this drama so far (up to episode 19 today)! Fingers crossed it'll continue to be good to the end. It is more than an e-sports themed drama. There's mystery, sci-fi, growing pains, friendship, family and romance. It has so much heart. The family bond, friendships, and romance are done very well. I've lost count the number of times I laughed out loud, teared up or outright cried. The in-game live action scenes with the actors are exciting and so much fun to watch. The drama has been very innovative with how they show the kills and action sequences. Luhan and Leo Wu are both great and same for the rest of the cast. The HK director has only worked on films previously and you can see how his style is different from the standard C-drama. The 2 timelines (2008 vs. 2019) are done so well, with a great nostalgic feel for 2008. There are no fillers! The long recap at the beginning of each episode is annoying, but easy to skip. I think that this drama has one of the best product placements I've seen. They are actually incorporated into the plot (Aston Martin, Adidas, etc.) and not just randomly inserted and forced in your face. Hopefully no one in the drama feels the urgent need for a mask =P And I am so happy that this drama introduced me to the band GALA. The song they used at the end of episode 18 for the montage to mark the halfway point of the drama was both poignant and yet inspiring.
  • I was a huge fan of Leon when I was a young girl. He will always have a special spot in my fangirl heart =) That's a terrible photo of Leon. He had gained a lot of weight, but has since lost a bit of that. I think he looks great for 53. It is unfair to expect celebrities to forever look like their 20 year old attractive self. I think Michael Miu is one of the few who looks great in his 50's (although I think he's had botox and possibly some PS =P). I think Leon looked good at Joey's concert last year and was awesome seeing her fangirling over him. He's still so charming and such a gentleman. https://youtu.be/u9-O7QKgj1g His rare appearance at TVB for a charity event recently. https://youtu.be/Xy3IvRCPPRI
