• Seniors and veterans = Automatically good acting/drama?? Definitely not. Both has been a big disappointment for me so far (tho I am a die hard fan of these actors). Over-acting and bad script/plot all around! ;-(
  • @killer Quitted long ago ? How long is long?? 15 years without any major role qualify for you? Bcos this guy has been sticking around the industry (fr TVB-ATV-TVB) for almost 18y years now! In fact he is in the same acting class as Ng Kar Lok (the sissy baddie). Please given him some credit unless he has done something so bad to you maybe???
  • I just do not understand HKies. After all the bashing they give TVB dramas, they can actually pay money to go see this rubbish of a 'movie'??? Leaves me speechless!! Most M'sians have gotten word out to just save your money, or rather support our own productions ie Ola Bola etc. p/s In fact I had not pay money to watch a Wong Jing movie for years; utter con job, depending on big stars only!
  • @kaykay408 If you had known them since their early days in TVB, you will know that it is no coincidence as they came out together and had similar roles in similar phases of their career. In fact our whole family often mistook one for the other back then. It was not until Rosy Business that Wayne managed to pull out the gap; even tho I still think Power is much more versatile and convincing in his roles.
  • @snoopy I think to dismiss an artiste's performance based on the series and not his work IN that series is a unfair judgement; really, if many of you miss Ruco's performance in COD just bços you don't like the series or the other artistes, it will be quite de-moralising for Ruco, I imagine. Anyway, Anthony is definitely an accomplished actor and I've always enjoyed his work. To me, he did really well in LOS until the stretch of the last 3-4 episodes which entails more tragic moments; esp when faced with an ailing wife and death of his ídol'/Myolie. I thought he did not showed enough of these ''soft emotions, talking to his wife was almost like talking to his right hand man. In other words, not enough different facets in his acting; excellent in being the big controlled 'taiko'' but so so in other expressions.
  • I was there that night and so proud to see Malaysians chanting his name just b4 the announcement, even knowing he was not present. That showed the executives that our choice is crystal clear and we will not accept any other! Over to you now, HK fans!!
  • @sojin000 This is my prediction too, except Louis Cheung may creep in for Supporting Actor.
  • What I don't agree most is the general "çonsensus'' that movie actors' level of acting is higher than TV actors. I feel that to do well in a TV drama takes a lot more effort, sustaining a character's persona throughout 10-20 hours, esp when filming is done not in sequence and sometimes, not even having a proper storyline!! In fact, I had heard Dodo Cheng said in her CRHK programme that to her, the difficulty level is stage being the highest, next is TV and last is movie.
  • @etnngo Exactly my point; I think it's really unfair of people (including one RTHK2 DJ I heard over her radio programme) to remark that the 31 point ratings is due to Raymond and Raymond alone!! It's like, why can't people give due credit where it's due, instead of sticking to a mindset that only ''old/veteran'' artistes can boost the ratings?
  • @anon Agree; he has acted a good guy for so long, I think he has lost touch on how to act evil . IMHO, Anthony also seems to be over-acting at times; maybe forgetting this is a TV drama and not a movie/play (bços exaggeration in an hour or two is exciting, but over 20+hours? It can be overbearing). I like Kent Tong the best; looking the most natural of the three. Next is Keith Kwan, never disappoints.
  • @kolo Actually I find that quite amusing; you mean, you already know way before that Raymond is going to come and switched on the TV exactly at that moment??? Even if u have that 'psychic ability, hard to imagine many other thousands did exactly the same. Can somebody maybe try explain how the ratings are captured?
