• @funn I agree and she never had much of a career anyways so for her to come or go is not a big deal at all.
  • @funn I only watch the Grand Final and didn't follow other episodes except the Water Battle episode. The dance I like the most is the 'Gift of Time' dance by Xiao Zhibin. I rewatched it many times. I read in Chinese forum that Xiao Jie was injured and at the time of elimination, he hasn't fully recovered. That was one of the reason Wallace chose to eliminate him. If that was true, Wallace did the right thing. For a dancer, his body is his asset. He has other platform to show his skill after he fully recovered.
  • No offense, she hardly has a career as an actress now. It's good she takes a step back and come back in a few years' time.
  • @gnomageddon It doesn't make sense to me because the pandemic is still raging and I question if China ever will release true stats. It's a vanity project in my opinion and ill timed and done in bad taste.
  • @seriously When a vaccine is found, perhaps in a documentary by western media and then a movie adaptation when there's a book, if hollywood isn't kow towing to China.
  • The world is still under this deadly pandemic, cases still climbing, people still dying, world still blaming china and covid 19 has cancelled 2020 and still very much ongoing everywhere. Documentaries are fine but a tv series seems self congratulatory over something still unsolved. I get the sentiment, to bring out the community spirit and tell the first responders' story but if the world is still going thru 4th 5th 6th whatever reoccurence, China very well is too and probably covered up. This series is ill timed however well acted. Should have been released when all things have settled. Any earlier, it is a vanity project that doesn't help with highlighting their first responders' bravery and issues.
  • I have supported keven since ep 1, together with his best bud, Xiaojie. My dream top 2 would have been them. Fans are crying foul because they think bouboo should or would win. or me keven is deserving winner. Xiaocao deserved his runner up status even if when the last battle started he was dead tired. Even I was dead tired. The show was more than 8 hours long. Even DJ ALone probably fell asleep. All audience if depended on public transport will need to walk home. The organisers need to buck up if not China will issue another rule; no variety show more than 7 hours. It was insane. Now that I am remembering the wonderful experience, I will say Lay Zhang deserved higher standing with his team performances than he was afforded. His performances are those you will need to rewatch to appreciate. I am yibo fan but I feel his team performances were always meh to me but did better thanks to Yibo's explosiveness. I still can't forgive Wallace for cutting Xiaojie before his time is up so he can retain his beloved Sulianya who was good but was abysmal in battle. Imagine if that battle was Xiaojie, it would have been a highlight. Jackson to me is my great discovery. Love him. Love the show, could do better with honest editing and better arrangement but unlike some fandoms, I don't think it was fixed. Keven is the deserving winner. He was a beast!
  • Some flat out did surgery, Won;t deny that. Some are natural beauty. But many takes time to flower, lost weight, make up etc to make them stand out. Most if not all did some surgery, mostly nose or eyes. Thus list chooses those mostly natural beauty or took time to flower.
  • @funn I have a feeling something bad may have happened for him to diss her like this. To be fair, there are times YZ can be decent but at times can be a complete idiot. People have fall outs all the time so it is nothing new. Even a happily married couple can suddenly divorce so nothing is shocking anymore.
  • @funn Technically, the younger cast isn’t all new....quite a few are “experienced” actors, it’s just that most of their work has been in movies...but since many audiences don’t pay attention to HK movie industry nowadays, these artists get classified as “new” when they show up in a TV series. Some of these artists have been nominated for and / or won multiple awards in the film industry. Jennifer Yu for example, has been in the industry almost 10 years already and has been in countless films, with a slew of nominations and awards to her name. Tony Wu has been in the industry nearly 5 years (he came from the sports world, as he used to be a baseball player) and also has a slew of nominations/awards, including winning many of the best newcomer awards the year he debuted. And that’s just 2 examples...
  • One wonders why he suddenly disses her? Neither is a good choice. From all accounts, at least michelle can act. Angelababy would have ruined the series. She can't act for the life of her.
  • Height and acting aside, he's still A list and bankable. He has his fans. He just needs a good script.
  • The younger casts, I am not familiar so it is always good to be introduced to new actors hopefully theres someone in there that could light up HK film industry. The main 3, 1 of whom is never known to be good for her acting. The other 2 , 1 I quite like and the other I never liked. So the story better be awesome, because actors alone won't entice me. But I learn a good lesson from The Untamed. Never judge the green actors, give it a chance and well, I'm now their fan. So the story and acting may be impressive.
  • Filmed 2 years ago, 1st broadcast 1 year ago, rebroadcast soon... saw the Japanese blu ray set and that is one very special treatment. Saw 4K version, jaw dropped at how clear it is and everything is so pretty with heightened sense. Still jaw dropped at the average age of the actors, normally I will denounce it but well, they are great. Audition does wonders and one Cdrama I can rewatch again. However much I love certain cdrama even if 70 or 80 episodes, I can't rewatch them except for this. The tweets for the 1 year anniversary was great fun too. Still impressed how the show got away with so much.
  • I do plan to watch later but the average age of the actors in this series is probably pushing 45. Im concerned about the bankability of younger actors because im finding TVB very hard to get into these days except for the recent rather good exorcist metre which has potential to go beyond the same rehashed storyine.
  • @funn Yes, Untamed is worth watching esp. after reading the translated novel because you understand the characters better and it is alot funnier and sexier. LOL. I admit I.watched the anime first, read the novel as I watched the drama. It is boys love novel. I prefer the anime to the drama but unfortunately it is not complete like the novel. Those who have watched the anime and read the novel marvelled at the casting of ZX as Wei Wuxian. That cheeky and winsome smile is puuurfect. Those who like the drama, please read the novel. You will love chemistry between Lanzhan and Weiying more and appreciate many other characters in the drama.
  • @funn yea they did say joy of life was supposed to be a time transport theme and it wasn't. but it's only a minor quibble and didn't impact the plot too much. I have high hopes for s2, but I am scared it won't live up to the first season. I'm not saying Untamed doesn't have its merits, but it does make me wonder whether it's not more hyped up because it features Boy Love packaged in a different way. And because of that extra layer of subtlety to indicate love without showing visual action, it makes people love it more? But there are series that does this well in the past, like Return of the Cuckoo and just dramas in the past when times were more conservative
  • @funn there is no outright "romance" which is why I say it's bromance. there is definitely love, but not in the traditional lovey-dovey way. I would not use the superlative "greatest love story" on this drama lol as I've been impressed many times by other love stories over the yrs. I stopped watching I think at around episode 13, but at that point I think I've seen enough and didn't continue. I will give it another chance when I have more time, though.
  • @coralie Joy of life at the start was not started well due again to restriction. I couldn't finish it, once i dropped it, I didn't feel like picking it up. Once s2 arrives, I will pick it up to refresh. I think each opinion differs but for me Xiao Zhan was superb in the untamed and he started late, so i won't say this is his best performance (same with wang yibo but i still am shocked he was 20-21 during filming) and I heard he was also superb in Joy of life in a small role probably bigger role in s2. I do know he filmed joy of life when filing the untamed, hence his thin sickly look. If you have a chance, do pick up the untamed again but it requires a bit of reading before watching to fully appreciate the subtexts and many stuff happening. It is not empty praises that this series was and is still hot in netflix, helped by the excellent english subs.
  • @coralie "Another one is The Untamed, which is still more "bromance" centered, but it's not romance, at least." The Untamed is possibly the greatest love story told on cdrama screen or any screen. It is definitely not bromance. It has many elements but the central is the love story and it was written, filmed but not marketed that way for obvious reasons. It is not wuxia by the way, not about political intrigue being central theme like joy of life, but it has everything. At least i guarantee there is resolution for each character, however minute. So no it isn't bromance.
