• @funn I have a feeling something bad may have happened for him to diss her like this. To be fair, there are times YZ can be decent but at times can be a complete idiot. People have fall outs all the time so it is nothing new. Even a happily married couple can suddenly divorce so nothing is shocking anymore.
  • @funn Technically, the younger cast isn’t all new....quite a few are “experienced” actors, it’s just that most of their work has been in movies...but since many audiences don’t pay attention to HK movie industry nowadays, these artists get classified as “new” when they show up in a TV series. Some of these artists have been nominated for and / or won multiple awards in the film industry. Jennifer Yu for example, has been in the industry almost 10 years already and has been in countless films, with a slew of nominations and awards to her name. Tony Wu has been in the industry nearly 5 years (he came from the sports world, as he used to be a baseball player) and also has a slew of nominations/awards, including winning many of the best newcomer awards the year he debuted. And that’s just 2 examples...
  • One wonders why he suddenly disses her? Neither is a good choice. From all accounts, at least michelle can act. Angelababy would have ruined the series. She can't act for the life of her.
  • Height and acting aside, he's still A list and bankable. He has his fans. He just needs a good script.
  • The younger casts, I am not familiar so it is always good to be introduced to new actors hopefully theres someone in there that could light up HK film industry. The main 3, 1 of whom is never known to be good for her acting. The other 2 , 1 I quite like and the other I never liked. So the story better be awesome, because actors alone won't entice me. But I learn a good lesson from The Untamed. Never judge the green actors, give it a chance and well, I'm now their fan. So the story and acting may be impressive.
  • Filmed 2 years ago, 1st broadcast 1 year ago, rebroadcast soon... saw the Japanese blu ray set and that is one very special treatment. Saw 4K version, jaw dropped at how clear it is and everything is so pretty with heightened sense. Still jaw dropped at the average age of the actors, normally I will denounce it but well, they are great. Audition does wonders and one Cdrama I can rewatch again. However much I love certain cdrama even if 70 or 80 episodes, I can't rewatch them except for this. The tweets for the 1 year anniversary was great fun too. Still impressed how the show got away with so much.
  • I do plan to watch later but the average age of the actors in this series is probably pushing 45. Im concerned about the bankability of younger actors because im finding TVB very hard to get into these days except for the recent rather good exorcist metre which has potential to go beyond the same rehashed storyine.
  • @funn Yes, Untamed is worth watching esp. after reading the translated novel because you understand the characters better and it is alot funnier and sexier. LOL. I admit I.watched the anime first, read the novel as I watched the drama. It is boys love novel. I prefer the anime to the drama but unfortunately it is not complete like the novel. Those who have watched the anime and read the novel marvelled at the casting of ZX as Wei Wuxian. That cheeky and winsome smile is puuurfect. Those who like the drama, please read the novel. You will love chemistry between Lanzhan and Weiying more and appreciate many other characters in the drama.
  • @funn yea they did say joy of life was supposed to be a time transport theme and it wasn't. but it's only a minor quibble and didn't impact the plot too much. I have high hopes for s2, but I am scared it won't live up to the first season. I'm not saying Untamed doesn't have its merits, but it does make me wonder whether it's not more hyped up because it features Boy Love packaged in a different way. And because of that extra layer of subtlety to indicate love without showing visual action, it makes people love it more? But there are series that does this well in the past, like Return of the Cuckoo and just dramas in the past when times were more conservative
  • @funn there is no outright "romance" which is why I say it's bromance. there is definitely love, but not in the traditional lovey-dovey way. I would not use the superlative "greatest love story" on this drama lol as I've been impressed many times by other love stories over the yrs. I stopped watching I think at around episode 13, but at that point I think I've seen enough and didn't continue. I will give it another chance when I have more time, though.
  • @coralie Joy of life at the start was not started well due again to restriction. I couldn't finish it, once i dropped it, I didn't feel like picking it up. Once s2 arrives, I will pick it up to refresh. I think each opinion differs but for me Xiao Zhan was superb in the untamed and he started late, so i won't say this is his best performance (same with wang yibo but i still am shocked he was 20-21 during filming) and I heard he was also superb in Joy of life in a small role probably bigger role in s2. I do know he filmed joy of life when filing the untamed, hence his thin sickly look. If you have a chance, do pick up the untamed again but it requires a bit of reading before watching to fully appreciate the subtexts and many stuff happening. It is not empty praises that this series was and is still hot in netflix, helped by the excellent english subs.
  • @coralie "Another one is The Untamed, which is still more "bromance" centered, but it's not romance, at least." The Untamed is possibly the greatest love story told on cdrama screen or any screen. It is definitely not bromance. It has many elements but the central is the love story and it was written, filmed but not marketed that way for obvious reasons. It is not wuxia by the way, not about political intrigue being central theme like joy of life, but it has everything. At least i guarantee there is resolution for each character, however minute. So no it isn't bromance.
  • Oh, huge spoiler in the article. Would appreciate Spoiler alert warning even if already suspected so.
  • Errr... he has a young man's body, that's it. Not much definition or muscle. Not sure if that is 40 inch but frankly, not much to see.
  • @coralie I expected Kenneth to end up with Moon so when she died I was shocked. I do think her death is necessary because it pushes Ma Kwai to take up the mantle. "Kenneth’s parents arc wasn’t a huge surprise to me since I kinda seen this exact storyline happen in the Korean movie “Hello Ghost” so I did suspect something. Nevertheless, the impact didn’t lessen for me. Buckets of tears, I tell you." I didn't expect that. I truly didn't. Was very shocked and cried buckets too. In this series a lot of good people died terrible deaths, they drop like flies and the bad guy? Died of seemingly heart failure. I do like it when Ma Kwai shot him but I hated that why should he have felt it was a sin to kill someone who is born evil as opposed to him who was born decent? One attracted a good spirit, the other bad sort. A scene should have been added where Ma Kwai is told he shouldn't feel guilt for killing evil dude because that's his duty, there can be no sin in ridding evil and perhaps whatever that demon said was just her own biased opinion. I mean why listen to someone who uses seduction or affection to make you kill someone? Her credibility to me is none. Other than that, awesome series even if I disagree with how the mother clinging on to the dead son. There should be a darn sequel because I mean where is Little Ho??
  • @smurf Obviously. Bella is in friends zone even when she is dead. Oh I remember her scene where she spoke of her dreams and she is very dead and oh tears falling. So very sad. I think on average I am almost in tears or in tears every 3 episodes or so with the last 10 like almost every episode.
  • @llwy12 I am shocked the producer had no foresight or he was just being humble because how can a series like this NOT get high ratings? Even if out of HK? It has issues that both young and old will enjoy save for incredibly bad acting and there wasn't any. The ending must have been changed which is typical TVB. Just give a proper ending and do a proper sequel and just give us a proper story. This series technically can go on for seasons like American TV shows. Anyway shows producer is out of touch. How many heart of greed or whatever the name is now can HK audience take? Somehow Exorcist's metre is more grounded with its stories about ghosts and demons and whatever than that part 3 of the perpetual feuding family in HK. Even My Ages Apart which may be silly and it is supposed to be is more grounded silly than that so called family feud drama. It is so stereotyping. I am thinking with all the money they have earned can't they have given at least their son a better education. Anyway now I am loving My Ages Apart. Everytime you think it is silly, there comes an element where makes it not silly but witty. Every line is delivered with panache. I do miss exorcist's metre. I have decided it is TVB's best drama for 2017, possibly for the last 3 years even if it had a terrible bad ending and an anti climatic fight. And it won't win awards because that's not how TVB works.
