• Wow, what a lucky break for TVB… this is exactly the series they should be airing right now. Popular opinion of Kenneth is at an all-time high, and rumors with Natalie will only help the ratings. The public will be clamoring for it. Natalie has a decent reputation, outside of her dubious taste in men. I'm sure viewers will be rooting for them in real life too.
  • @sasamii thanks. I'm trying to not add oil to this fire. some of the vitriol heaped on jw went overboard imo. I don't want to see a situation where she's driven to suicide because of online bullying. some of the comments aren't even related to what she did, but on her looks or body. like, c'mon people, stop judging on non-related factors. she might not be the prettiest I get it but stick to what she's done, not complete assassination.
  • @jimmyszeto I just saw that too. Sigh. I mean, I understand that it's hard to throw away such a long relationship. But I can't help but feel like it would be healthier for her to kick him to the curb. :P
  • @coralie @shorty I think your two comments are some of the most level-headed I've seen so far. Was this terrible judgement on the part of the cheaters? Absolutely. Does it show a lack of empathy and loyalty to their other halves? Yep. But the amount of venom being written the past two days has been incredible. I think both Jacqueline and Andy are tremendously lucky to have partners that aren't vengeful. No one would blame them if they were. Gawd knows I wouldn't be so classy. But in the end, I agree with you. They're cheaters… they did something bad, but they themselves are not inherently evil. They are both very very selfish though.
  • @m0m0 Yeah, I'm surprised to see how negative the press is being towards Fred. The report I saw pretty much labeled him as a two-timing, lying jerk. Who did he piss off? I thought he was TVB's latest golden boy.
  • @melia880 Completely agree with your comment! After all, these actors are being paid for these roles, and TVB is making money off the shows via advertisements. There would be neither without viewers, and so it's only fair that the viewers demand professional-level acting. Also... is it so hard for TVB to schedule in some acting lessons for these newbies?? Even something for a few months would help. And VOICE LESSONS. So many of these younger actresses have terrible voice control, which makes it just that much harder to watch them on TV.
  • @janet72 Yeah, her comment just kind of rubbed me the wrong way, and makes her seem less interesting as a person (and therefore, less marketable!). But perhaps HK'ers don't think that way.
  • @went Yes, saying that both their careers are more important right now would have been a very diplomatic way of phrasing it! @happybi Yeah, I think they make a cute couple too, so maybe it all works out.
  • I mean, I *get* it. He's definitely being promoted by TVB right now and she isn't, but I really wish she said that HER career came first.
  • @janet72 I know, right?! I don't particularly have an opinion of her either way, but the whole way she's dealt with the situation just seems like she had something to hide.
  • @dramadrama I agree about Bobby's role in the ghost series. I like his acting, but it wasn't a challenging or different role at all. I also liked his character from that time travel series! It's the one where he was paired with Esther Kwan, right? I hope TVB doesn't give Kevin the award. If they do, it will be such obvious favoritism... the series itself aired really early in the year, it didn't receive nearly as much positive hype, and his role didn't particularly get much attention.
  • @jimmyszeto @coralie Yeah, the TVB 'quiz' had a few options that definitely couldn't work due to the ages of the characters. What a twist it would be though if it was indeed the deadbeat daughter-selling gambling man!! :P Okay, you've convinced me, I'll hop on the pudding man train! It does seem suspicious that his business has been able to move in and out of the walled city all these years, and he does have access/motive.
  • @kiki Oh, I wasn't hoping for a perfect happy ending for ORO necessarily, I was actually wanting something a little less happy. I thought the whole necklace/does she remember him thing was silly; my ideal ending would have been Vincent's character slowly winning Tracy back, even without their shared memories, in this new timeline, showing that they were really fated to be. But yeah, sad that TVB is hardly fair when it comes to giving out awards. They do have some really excellent actors in the supporting roles.
  • @jimmyszeto But then who could be the big bad guy? Anyone else we're not thinking of, who is the right age? If they suddenly trot out some new character to be the villain in the last three episodes, I'm going to be annoyed.
  • @coralie @jimmyszeto aaaaah, I didn't even think about the pudding man as an option for the mastermind. But it kinda, maybe fits (except that he did get beat up...)?? I don't think the uncle is the ultimate villain, but he is definitely hiding something. Like, he was bribed or blackmailed into harming his brother... which means he'll die a horrible bloody death right before he can reveal the big bad guy's name!
  • @coralie I think that the more popular you are within TVB, the safer your roles get. I guess they think that the audience likes to root for obvious heroes, with the heart of gold; so many leading roles fall into that category. Nancy falls into that rut; many of her supporting roles were so much juicier and displayed her talent better, and her latest few roles have been so blah (as good as her Diu Lan is even with her tragic backstory, Grace's sister role is waaaay more interesting and has more depth, I feel). If this holds true though, Ruco's a shoo-in this year. :) Although, if Gallen's series gets slated as an anniversary series, he could very well win. :P @kiki I would be happy with either a Vincent (long shot) or Ruco win this year. TVB needs more leading men who can act (well, actresses too, but that's another story). Glad you enjoyed Over Run Over; except for the ending, I thought it was very well done (though not as mainstream appealing as Fist Within Four Walls).
  • @coralie Becaaaaaauuuuuseeee... raaaatinnnnggggs! :)
  • Okay, playing devil's advocate here. Sure, Ruco has done a fine job with his role. That scene where he was OD-ing on cocaine? Great. But really, has this been the most complicated or nuanced role that he's played? No, not by a long shot. Personally, the male role that was most interesting for me this year so far, with a good character arc, was Vincent Wong in Over Run Over. That being said, it does look like TVB is finally ready to promote Ruco (which is deserved, please don't skewer me, Ruco fans), so I do think this role is going to firmly cement him in the big boys league.
  • @happybi Thanks for the input. It seems to be at the discretion of the doctor, so good luck to all the to-be mothers out there!
  • I'm not a mother, so maybe those who are can enlighten me. I read an article recently that said medically unnecessary C-sections were actually not very good for the baby. Since they're usually scheduled prior to a woman's due date, and nature usually has a good idea when the baby is developmentally ready to come out, c-section babies can suffer minor but very real setbacks that could easily have been avoided. Even an extra few days in the womb can help additional cells grow. Is this true? If so, it's quite perplexing for mothers-to-be to get unnecessary c-sections. Not an attack on Sharon, specifically, but is having a certain birthday THAT important?
