Aaron Kwok and Moka Fang Tie the Knot

51-year-old Aaron Kwok (郭富城) and 29-year-old Moka Fang (方媛) have finally tied the knot in a low-profile, yet lavish wedding ceremony held at The Peninsula Hong Kong on Tuesday, April 18. The couple only invited close family and friends to the ceremony, filling up 8 tables.

Aaron’s groomsmen included fellow actor Chilam Cheung (
張智霖), choreographer Sunny Wong, fashion retail giant Sham Kar-wai (沈嘉偉), designer Dorian Ho (何國鉦), Tam Kwok-ching (譚國政), and concert producer Jack. Security was tight at the wedding, and the newlyweds arrived at the location via helicopter. Reporters were prevented from filming the venue, but a quick glimpse inside showed that Aaron and Moka had went for a romantic rose wedding theme. The tables were decorated with red flowers, and utensils were gold-plated.

Despite the tight security, some details of the wedding were leaked online. There was a live broadcast of Aaron and his groomsmen playing door games and welcoming the bride. The couple had their cake-cutting ceremony around 8 p.m. Both Aaron and Moka were in tears during their signing ceremony. The MC of the event shared that Aaron got drunk at his bachelor’s party the previous night.

The couple thanked each other’s parents during their speeches, and Aaron was emotional when he thanked his mother. Moka’s father allegedly said to Aaron, “Big Brother, I grew up listening to your music. Now I’m handing my daughter to you. Please take good care of her.”

After taking Moka’s hand from her father, Aaron’s close friends tried to get Aaron to kiss her. Aaron said, “Now? But that’s too soon!”

Aaron’s agency has released several photos from the wedding. The first featured Aaron with his groomsmen, and the second was a wedding portrait. Aaron had his arms around Moka, deliberately covering her belly.

Aaron Kwok Moka Fang 4Several hazy photos from the wedding were leaked online, which showed Moka looking about 5 months pregnant. The couple hasn’t responded to these pregnancy rumors.

Aaron’s manager Siu Mei (小美), Sunny Wong, and Tam Kwok-ching greeted the reporters on behalf of the newlyweds. Siu Mei approached Moka’s pregnancy rumor with caution, and stressed that she doesn’t know if the couple are expecting.

“To be honest, I didn’t ask,” she said. “I promise that I will let you all know when I know.” (Is it because she’s still in her first trimester?) “I don’t know if there is that possibility but I promise to let everyone know once I find out.” (Have people been pushing them to have kids?) “When [his] mother gave them their lucky money she told them to be happy and start working!”

On Aaron’s reasons for holding his wedding at The Peninsula Hong Kong, Siu Mei said, “When Aaron held his 50th birthday party at [The Peninsula], his birthday wish was to settle down. This has finally come true.”

She’s pregnant and he is ready for a child. He looks very very excited doesn’t he? Not! Looks tired. But wedding photo looks sensational. Ouch moment with the father if indeed he said what he said.

Why the news here had been twisted Moka’s father allegedly said to Aaron, “Big Brother, I grew up listening to your music. In the Asian news Moka’s father only mentioned that his daughter from young listening to Aaron’s songs not him.

@lucida Why did the Asian news twist the facts and create “fake news” to their unsuspecting readers?

@lucida OK, then why did you imply that Jaynestar was twisting the story.while the Asian tabloids were reporting accurately if we don’t know who was telling the truth?

Simple ‘coz I doubted that Moka’s father would said such a silly statement.

        • jjwong replied:

@lucida 1) It said “allegedly” so it can be true or not true. It’s not confirmed. 2) On the contrary, I can see her father say silly things. People had done more sillier things when they’re happy, drunk, nervous or festive. Your doubt doesn’t mean it can’t be true. My opinion doesn’t mean it’s true. 3) Jayne Stars simply translated from original source in Chinese, which is Oriental Daily apparently for this article. So it’s not really “here” that speculated her father had said that. Therefore, it’s invalid to accuse JS “twisted” the words.

One thing I do agree, who cares who said what. The fact still stands that he’s closer to her father’s age. Even if her father didn’t say that or listen to him religiously, he still grew up around Aaron’s fame and song timeframe.

Of coz I’m aware the news from here is taken elsewhere and translated, did I ever mentioned JS’s name in my comment I just mentioned “here”..You don’t have to point finger or enlightened me as though I’m blaming JS, as for Moka’s father did he or didn’t he said so.. he is out of his mind, uneducated or disrespectful to his son in law that’s his problem.

@lucida dude/dudette, you don’t have to name JS directly but it’s in your implication of “here.” What else would “here” mean? Anyways, no, don’t answer that because I’m not discussing this further with someone who refuse to see. It’s like a wall. So, peace out.

well, how old would that make her parents if they did indeed grow up listening to his music?! her mom’s probably too embarrassed to say i had a crush on you and now my daughter completed my dreams!

@m0m0 Haha…I wouldn’t be surprised if the parents are closer to Aaron’s age or maybe even younger than him.

Aaron and Moka’s age gap is huge, but might still work — it depends on the quality of their relationship. The best recent example that comes to mind of a similar age gap relationship that worked out great is Alex To and his wife Ice (interestingly enough, like Aaron, Alex is also known for his dancing and rose to popularity in Taiwan before revamping his career in HK). Alex is 24 years older than his wife (he is actually the same age as Ice’s dad and OLDER than her mom), yet they have no problems maintaining a great relationship. They’ve been married 5 years now and just had a baby boy last year.

With that said though, of course the dynamics are different and each couple is different so hard to say how things will turn out….might work for some couples but not for others.

@cutie777 Aaron’s wedding seems to be quickly put together. Very understated and simple.

The wedding was meant to be for close family members. Chilam Cheung has been good buddies with Aaron for a long time, so he was one of the few celebrities at the banquet.

@jayne yes I thought so too but I was thinking Andy couldn’t make it because he fell off the horse just not sure about the other two. I also read another article about Vivian Chow that if Aaron ever invited her to his wedding she will definitely attend the wedding but I guess he didn’t invited her either. Thanks for your reply.

        • llwy12 replied:

@cutie777 The wedding was indeed very small and Aaron only invited very close friends and colleagues — I think it was part venue and part intentional. From what Aaron’s manager Siu Mei has said, Aaron actually held his birthday party at the same hotel awhile back ago and really liked the place…and it was at that party that he expressed his intention to “settle down”, so that venue probably has meaning to him. In picking that hotel though, Aaron has no choice but to do a small dinner banquet because maximum space in their ballroom can only fit 10 tables. So it makes sense that the wedding was small.

I’m not surprised at all that he didn’t invite the other 3 Heavenly Kings, since the 4 of them aren’t even close – though not like they would’ve attended even if he did invite them. Andy for obvious reasons due to his injury, Leon doesn’t usually attend these types of events, and Jacky is busy with his World Tour concert at the moment (this past year he’s been attending only select events and also depends on whether they fit in with his tour schedule). What I’m actually surprised about is that Aaron even held a wedding ceremony at all, and in Hong Kong too – most of the big name celebrities either get married overseas or have secret ceremonies far away from the prying eyes of the HK media. Of course, I understand why he had to get married in HK (due to his wife’s immigration status), but didn’t think he would go all out in terms of having an actual wedding banquet.

      Its clearly a shotgun wedding!
Whether he really thinks he’s found “the one” is for him to know! I mean she’s young and she totally scored big time with someone who will give her whatever she wants and she will live in luxury and be spoilt rotten. Wonder if this marriage will last! Sorry to say this when they’ve only just married but u cant help thinking about it.. Leon Lai and his ex-wife Gaile Lok. She was young and a model married someone rich but eventually they separated.

Out of the 4 Heavenly King I have great respect for Andy Lau and Jacky Cheung. Very low profile, protect their family and really separate family and work.

Yes, Aaron’s wedding was simple and rushed, security was tight and no media allowed but he did lavish out on the wedding regardless venue, food, gifts for guests, clothing etc. If he was really private and low-profile he wouldnt even bother to release those photos through his Manager to the public. But he did, he wanted people to know…….. there’s a difference.
Same with Leon. He did marry Gaile privately and it was kept that way for some time until the media discovered that Andy Lau had married Carol secretly in the states and when this became hot topic and Andy finally publicly admitted it and apologized to his fans, Leon Lai a few days later publicly announced that he was married. It was like ergh..WTF ?! Why did you Leon bother to do that?

Andy wanted his private life to be private, but clearly people just kept digging and found his marriage certificate. Anyways with Aaron, I really dont know about him! I mean definitely congratulations is in order , to finally settle down at age 51 with a young wife and a baby on the way! I mean about time he stepped into fatherhood and become more responsible. Having a child will change everything and prioritise family more ……….hope to see a different side of Aaron!!!!

        • llwy12 replied:

@cutie777 Um, not sure why golddigger label would even apply in Jacky’s case. His wife May was a popular actress/singer back in the 80s even before Jacky officially started in the industry and they were together more than 10 years before getting married in 1996. May actually gave up a promising acting career for Jacky (which was a wise decision of course given what Jacky was able to achieve in his 30+ year career). Back then, May was placed in the same category as Maggie Cheung, Cherie Chung, and Carina Lau in terms of actresses with the most acting potential and if she had stayed in the industry, no doubt she would’ve been successful in her own merit.

And yes, Jacky and May were low key in that they got married overseas (in London, England) without a lavish wedding or anything like that, but I wouldn’t necessarily call it secretive in that they did let the HK media know they were married – it’s just that they chose to wait until after they returned to HK to put an announcement in the newspapers letting people know rather than revealing anything beforehand (wise move of course given how aggressive the HK media is with this kind of stuff)

@shimmerstars Same with Andy (and Miriam Yeung), reporters dug up Leon’s marriage certificate and published it in the papers. If I remember correctly, I don’t think he even responded to it let alone announce that he did marry. Therefore, can’t really accuse him of wanting people to know unlike someone who said they wanted to be low-profile yet released the wedding venue location and photos throughout the day.

Anyway, I don’t understand what would be the problem even if Leon did make an announcement about his marriage. It was public knowledge that he and Gaile were dating, he never made a real effort to hide her away for years while denying her existence nor made false promises that he would let everyone know if he were to get married.

Jacky and May Lo married privately in London as per @llwy12 stated. They wanted to get away from HK and the public media.

May Lo retired from the entertainment industry before she married Jacky. She retired as an actress in 1993. She married Jacky in 1996.
She’s very dedicated wife and mother and supported Jacky through his ups and downs of his music career.

May Lo is not a gold digger. She had an established career as an actress but from my understanding she wanted a change in her life (perhaps filming long hours was too stressful, not able to spend enough time with family etc).

But May is not the only actress in HK that retired.
Gigi Lai was also an established actress and retired (so suddenly) to help her brother’s business and also get married and have kids. There comes to a point in life where these women just need to refocus their priorities in life, acting is not forever. Thats the same with Brigitte Lin – she retired in 1994 and she was at the peak of her career as well as Maggie Cheung Man-yuk ! So many people miss Maggie but she just doesnt want to act anymore. She’s refocused her career into music and film directing.

These established actresses CANNOT be compared with Moka Fang. A psheudo model who obviously had made so much effort in wanting to be famous (going on variety TV shows and competitions etc) then becoming a blogger. I think you can safely classify her as a ‘gold digger’ and she wants to be pampered like a princess.

I am still wondering how Aaron and Moka met? Anyone know??
