“Al Cappuccino” Actress Serene Lim Signs With Richard Li’s New Talent Agency

After winning first runner-up in Miss Chinese International 2017, Serene Lim‘s (林宣妤) most notable roles were in TVB’s Al Cappuccino <反黑路人甲> and Line Walker: Bull Fight <使徒行者3>. Despite not renewing her TVB contract last year and deciding to move back to Malaysia, this did not end her aspirations in acting. Now represented by billionaire Richard Li’s (李澤楷)  new company Noble Castle Asia, which is investing heavy resources behind Serene, the 24-year-old’s second shot at stardom is expected to be more eventful.

Given the pressures of working in Hong Kong, Serene had suffered from bulimia. Serene confessed she felt embarrassed to have suffered from the eating disorder since she had taken nutrition studies in university. Fearing that she would become fat and not look good onscreen, she would often purge her food to maintain slim.

Back in Malaysia, Serene’s health and opportunities took a positive turn. It is said that Michelle Yeoh (楊紫瓊) had recommended several Malaysian artistes, including Serene, to Richard Li. Due to the businessman’s busy schedule, Serene only met with him briefly.

As their first signed artiste, the company is investing resources in Serene to make her into a big star. She is currently taking acting and Latin dancing classes to increase her performance skills. She will be working with Tang Wei’s (湯唯) former manager, Maria, who stated that the company plans to sign more artistes this year.

Although Serene was rumored to have dated TVB actor Karl Ting (丁子朗) due to their close social media interactions, the actress denied being in a relationship and said they only bonded through mutual friends.
