[STYLE] Best Fashion at the 2019 TVB Anniversary Awards

Hong Kong welcomes the new decade with its first local red carpet event—the TVB Anniversary Awards, which were held at Tseung Kwan O’s TVB City on January 12, 2020. Celebrating the best of last year’s TVB programming, some of the region’s most popular television stars graced the red carpet with their unique looks and glamorous outfits.

Kara Hui (惠英紅)

The TV Queen walked the red carpet with sophisticated power in her embezzled suit from Ermanno Scervino, which is a callback to her role as Senior Assistant Commissioner in TVB and Netflix’s The Defected <鐵探>.

Nancy Wu (胡定欣)

The Best Actor presenter and two-time TV Queen matched the carpet with her fiery red overcoat by Max Mara.

Kelly Cheung (張曦雯)

The rising star and Most Improved winner definitely stood out from the sea of colors with her slim black dress by David Koma.

Samantha Ko (高海寧)

Despite it being her first year being nominated as Best Actress, the My Commissioned Lover <婚姻合伙人> actress chose to stay simple with her appearance.

Selena Lee (李施嬅) and Joel Chan (陳山聰)

The Most Popular TV Partners winners made their presence known with a boldly printed Lanvin  gown and a bright neon pink suit.

Natalie Tong (唐詩詠)

A regular at awards ceremonies, the Big White Duel <白色強人> actress opted for a low V gown with a unique chain design.

Kenneth Ma (馬國明)

The Best Actor winner went for an adventurous dark blazer with different details.

Crystal Fung (馮盈盈)

The Big White Duel actress chose a bold see-through top with lace.

Alice Chan (陳煒)

Bold, solid colors was the theme this year, as the As Time Goes By <好日子> actress also chose to make an appearance in a bold ivory white dress that has a plunging back and a black ribbon. The dress was designed by local designer, Dorian Ho.

  1. This year fashion is a bore. Maybe Selena looks the best. I can’t decide if I like Priscilla Wong’s bridal look or felt it was too elaborated. And several actresses’ combed back hair looks so flat.

  2. I aspire to be kara hui in terms of awards fashion. She always looks chic even when wearing lacy curtain beneath her oversized suit.

Dress wise, I like Selena’s. But her make up is so pale. She needs a dash of blood red on her lips to stand out.

Kenneth ma always dress well in special occasion.looking handsome. Since he’s golden boy now I hope he will not get back with the woman who cheated on him once a cheat, always a cheat.

The rest of the women look either in a wedding, in some weird fashion show or in lingerie show. Nancy for one should have shown more skin since she worked hard on her body lately.

  3. Everyone was super boring with their white tone dresses.
Selena definitely had the best dress but her styling needs more. It looked more like for an PR event rather than TVs biggest night. Nice hair piece tho.
Kara Wai dressed appropriately for her age imo.
Also seriously did everyone use the same hair stylist cause they all had a sleek ponytail.

  4. Kara Wai’s suit seems too baggy and long on her. Not the best fit, thereby making her look frumpy. This is a clear case of her own confidence that made the outfit work.

I like Selena’s outside the box look, as it’s interesting. But not necessarily what I would consider award ceremony-worthy. There are better dresses out there.

Samantha Ko’s dress is actually a bit surprising to me. It is SO simple and can almost be called boring, except everything about it works on her. Its color is refreshing and its silhouette gives her nice elegant curves without exposing anything. A definite winner in my book.

I like Crystal Fung’s dress, too. But she tends to go for audacious, which I find a little distasteful. However, this year’s dress is definitely pretty in the classic sense, even if it does dip into over-exposure category.

Alice is almost always on point with her outfits. Love her dress. It’s a little on the skimpy side, but it’s interesting to look at and keeps my attention. I feel like every part of the dress says, “notice me!” From the front to the back. Can be a little noisy but she kept everything mostly tame, so it works.

Nancy needs to stop with the slick back hair look. It makes her look too severe and harsh instead of fierce. Her outfit is plain, tbh. But the monochromatic color stands out.

    1. @alluka Lol…Honestly, they all looked pretty awful apart from Kelly Cheung (張曦雯). At least she carries it well and still looking sexy and put together. Natalie Tong – her acting and her sense of fashion is barely passing. ahhaa lol
