Charmaine Sheh Plays Judge in “Themis”

While Charmaine Sheh (佘詩曼) earlier brought home her fourth TVB Queen award for Queen of News 2 <新聞女王2>, TVB too, reportedly managed to turn things around after suffering losses for seven consecutive years, and made a profit of HK$50 million thanks to the show. Recently, Charmaine Sheh has once again joined forces with TVB for a high-profile return in the new drama Themis <正義女神>, transforming from a news anchor into a juvenile court judge. As a character who voluntarily accepts a demotion at the peak of her career, Charmaine confronts both the legal and human dilemmas surrounding juvenile crime.

Onscreen Reunion with Patrick Tam After 20 Years

One of the drama’s major highlights is Charmaine Sheh’s reunion with actor Patrick Tam (譚耀文) after 20 years – the pair were last seen in 2004’s Angels of Mission <無名天使3D>. In Themis, the two play a divorced couple and workplace rivals whose marriage ended because of differing beliefs, creating intense emotional tension. In response to concerns that her new role might carry shades of her iconic Man-jie character, Patrick spoke up in support of his co-star, saying, I guarantee it won’t,”

Benz’s Final Farewell

What is especially moving is that the drama is late veteran actor Benz Hui’s (許紹雄) final work left to audiences. In the drama, he plays the role of Hung Sze-yi, sharing powerful scenes with Charmaine Sheh and a younger cast. As a seasoned actor who has accompanied Hong Kong audiences for many years, Benz’s final professional performance will give the drama an added sense of weight and commemorative significance.
