Crystal Liu Celebrates 31st Birthday On the Set of Disney’s “Mulan”

It was a day of celebration for the cast of Disney’s Mulan, for the film’s main star Crystal Liu Yifei (劉亦菲) celebrated her birthday on the Hollywood set.

Crystal, who plays the titular character in Disney’s live-action remake of the 1998 animated movie Mulan, celebrated her 31st birthday on August 25th. Despite a busy filming schedule, the cast and crew surprised Crystal on set with a birthday cake, and the cast all gathered together to take pictures with the birthday star, sharing them on Instagram.

Crystal also shared a bare-faced selfie on social media and thanked the fans for their birthday wishes. In the selfie, Crystal’s cheeks were flushed from the alcohol.

Mulan is adapted from Disney’s 1998 animated film of the same name, and stars Crystal as the title character. Macau-born New Zealand actor Yoson An stars as the male lead Chen Honghui, with supportive appearances by Donnie Yen (甄子丹), Gong Li (鞏俐), Jet Li (李連傑), Jason Scott Lee, Ron Yuan, and more.

The film is slated for a March 27, 2020 release in North America.

  1. Still feeling iffy about this Mulan adaptation. I can’t see her as Mulan at all. Hopefully she doesn’t bore me to death.

  2. Mulan is fantastic, but no mulan movie or drama can make it any better than the Mulan in “A Tough Side of a Lady” (TVB, 1998). There is romance, comedy, and action that you won’t really find anywhere else.
