Evergreen Mak Waits on Tables

Often earning paltry salaries, many TVB artistes have become entrepreneurs to boost their income. Fifty-year-old actor, Evergreen Mak (麥長青), opened a cafe with his friend last year. When the cafe gets busy, Evergreen puts on an employee uniform and waits on tables.

The Bazaar Carnivals <街市遊樂團> star is known for his easily approachable personality when running into fans on the street. Evergreen maintains the same no-frills attitude when spotted at his cafe in Kowloon Bay. Although some diners recognize him as a celebrity, Evergreen did not mind and served them in a friendly and efficient manner. After delivering food to one table, he quickly ran to another to clear and wipe the table. He also learned how to make milk tea connotations and tidied the front desk.

Although he had invested a six-figure sum in the cafe, Evergreen is a hands-on owner. Realizing that the cafe still has to iron out its operations after opening doors six months ago, Evergreen is willing to work right alongside his employees.

  1. I still remember his role Wang Lu Lang from TVB with Rain Lau. A very good childhood role model who taught us what kindness, compassion and forgiveness is. It is still a really touching short little show in my heart. The OST was excellent !

I also really liked the other character who was the spirit guardian who helped them all the time, he made the drama really memorable and fun. He also played as Chor Lau Heung’s bestie, Wu Tik Fa. It was interesting how he got into villain roles too.

      1. @msxie0714 any of those are still better than Angelababy. I like him, over the years, he has consistently show how good he is at supporting 🙂 there is an honest feel about his performance? Good to know he’s like that outside, too

      2. @pocky Never Wong’sname is so unique, I had to look it up to see who he is. Turns out he is a professional tutor at a tutoring center in Hong Kong. I think his name is a good fit for his profession, as it sounds like he is “never wrong”.
