“Go! Go! Go! Operation C9” Opens With Weak Ratings

TVB just released viewership ratings for the week ending September 27, and the numbers are surprisingly low for currently airing dramas Go! Go! Go! Operation C9 <C9特工> and The Song of Glory <錦繡南歌>.

Taking over the 9:30 p.m. timeslot after Al Cappuccino <反黑路人甲> aired its finale, which finished with an impressive 28.7 ratings points during its last week of broadcast, Go! Go! Go! Operation C9 opened with a mere 22 points for its initial week of broadcast. Much promotion has centered around Samantha Ko (高海寧), who portrays an agent-turned-housewife, while its male stars Kenneth Ma (馬國明) and Lai Lok Yi (黎諾懿) take a backseat. Go! Go! Go! Operation C9 also marks Samantha’s fourth consecutively-aired drama this year alone.

While The Song of Glory did well in its broadcast in China earlier this year, the series was not as well received by Hong Kong viewers. Shockingly, the drama ranked last in terms of ratings for TVB year-to-date. Unlike another Chinese production Story of Yanxi Palace <延禧攻略>, which was aired on TVB and became an phenomenon in Asia, The Song of Glory was not widely embraced in Hong Kong. Perhaps part of the success of Story of Yanxi Palace in Hong Kong was due to Charmaine Sheh‘s (佘詩曼) presence. Without a notable local star in The Song of Glory, the drama only managed to garner 19.9 ratings points during its second week of broadcast, dropping 1.1 points from the premiere week.

Despite the two prime-time series showing lackluster ratings, TVB’s long-running sitcom Come Home Love: Lo and Behold <愛•回家之開心速遞> still manages to pull in steady ratings after airing its 1000th episode. Topping the lineup at 26 points, the sitcom is definitely TVB’s current trump card.

Lastly, the rerun of Line Walker <使徒行者>, which was aired in the late-night timeslot to refresh viewers for the upcoming third installment, averaged 6.4 points in viewership ratings.

    1. @tocar it’s too extreme and hard to accept-on one hand, she started off as an assassin, then 180 degree flip to become a housewife.

  1. It’s nothing ground breaking or spectacular but it’s cute at times and nice to watch to pass time.

Hate lai lokyi is this role. I much prefer him in funny more relaxed roles.

Samantha is not convincing as an agent as cute mom sure but agent she lacks.

  2. Lol,
It was garbage to begin with,

TVB should have broadcast Chinatown ,

C9 should have broadcast in the dead period during Xmas new year period.

Good it’s tanking as that basically won’t get Samantha Ko BA award…. Priscilla Wong should get BA now

  3. very average drama but with fresh faces. eg. lee ka ting, yvonne lam, geoffrey wong, kiwi yuen, jessica kan, becky lee ect. As usual samantha kho is being overcast. One gets tired when you see the same actor/actress in every consecutive drama. TVB always does this rubbish! At one time was Nancy Wu, now samantha! As for Lai Lok Yi (黎諾懿), his acting is amateurish and he if so full of himself as usual! never like him!

  4. I might be the only one enjoying this drama lol, I quite like it. Samantha is great on the housewive persona, love the family relationships. The agent part is kinda mediocre though, gotta agree on that.
