Hu Bing Denies Gay Affair With Edison Chen’s Father
Taiwanese model turned actor, 40-year-old, Hu Bing (胡兵), has often been rumored to be gay. Spotted partying wildly in Hong Kong gay bars in the past, Hu Bing was also romantically linked with Edison Chen’s (陈冠希) father, Edward Chen (陈泽民). In 2008, Hu Bing and Edward allegedly were photographed travelling together. With Edison’s sexcapades often headlining news, his father’s sexual orientation became an object of intense public scrutiny as well.
In 2009, Edward Chen filed a high-profile bankruptcy for his company, after inability to resolve financial debts. Edison’s parents had divorced when he was a child. Edward’s sexual orientation was rumored to be bisexual, as he was frequently photographed dining out in the company of male celebrities in recent years.
One of Edward Chen’s rumored boyfriends, Hu Bing, denied recent allegations that he was jealous over Edward’s dating habits. Hu Bing admitted that Edward was a good friend, but denied that they were gay lovers. Hu Bing said, “These are the game rules in the entertainment industry. I am already 40 years old. If I still minded, I would be a child!”
Hu Bing added, “I do not need to answer to anyone regarding my own love life. My happiness is my personal happiness; there is no need to show other people.” However, Hu Bing admitted that his past gay rumors have hurt his mother, who had wished to step forward to clarify the allegations. The gay rumors have not affected his popularity among advertisers and fans, in which the handsome actor had more than 2 million Weibo followers.

Jayne: There were earlier media speculations that due to his parents’ divorce and his father’s bisexuality, Edison Chen rebelled sexually and thus possessed such a strong sexuality. I don’t know how these incidents could have impacted Edison’s sex drive though.

Hu Bing and his brother Hu Dong are both quite tall and quite handsome…the brother being less pretty but more striking, in my opinion.

I am not sure I am willing to believe that a parent’s sexuality will necessarily effect the child’s own sexuality. However, I do believe that morals about sexuality and promiscuity are attitudes that are learned.
I have not seen Hu Bing act in a long time. I am glad to hear about him again but wished that it was good news instead.

When I was in Shanghai for a holiday, I saw lots of his posters and Huang Xiaoming plugging everything, advertisements everywhere. They were certainly good lookers.

I like Chinese men the way they speak Mandarin is so nice, diction and accent. Even Chinese girls. Some of the today’s generation well educated Chinese guys I’ve come across are gentlemanly and cultured – a throw back to the “junzhi” “gentleman” in history?
But Edison has yet to show signs of bisexuality.

Maybe Edison Chen should pitch a reality TV show about living in the shoes of his own life. The difficulty of remaining celibate and exclusive, when there are women interested in him all the time. Dealing with intensive public hatred and how to rise above this. We can all learn a thing or two about surviving in a world of hatred and criticism.
He can take us into the most exclusive parties in HK entertainment. Maybe Lady Gaga can also make an appearance. And show us how he truly picks up women, how he makes his first move when he meets someone he is interested in.
It would be in the style of “frat boy gone wild uncensored,” or as uncensored as he wants us to believe. The camera can black out or bleep during sensitive instances of cursing and more.
I look forward to Chinese celebrity reality TV shows! This may be a great way to boost Edison’s celebrity status further!

If Edison were indeed to make a reality TV show, everyone making an appearance in the show would realize that they are being filmed. Thus no one would be misled as to what is happening; no innocence unknowingly corrupted. They may be filmed secretly, but still sign waiver that it is okay afterward.
This way, anyone wishing to make a name for themselves via Edison no longer needs to leak secret dating photos. A more direct way would be to just make an appearance on such a show.
Reality TV guests are not shy types anyway.
His reality show can only be a reality so to speak if done by American channel, such as MTV. I doubt Chinese audience in Asia is ready for him. In MTV perhaps he can have a show looking for some asian hip hop master of the future and like a talent show cum reality show.
