Introducing TVB’s “The Defected”, Starring Kara Wai, Philip Keung, and Benjamin Yuen

Co-produced by TVB and China’s Penguin Pictures, new police drama The Defected <鐵探> has officially entered its post-production stage. A sneak peek trailer of the series was released to the media at the filming commencement banquet earlier this week, which was later shared online.

The show stars Kara Wai (衛英紅) as Chief Superintendent Maggie Ma, an ambitious police official who would do anything in her power to become Commissioner of Police. Benjamin Yuen (袁偉豪) stars as Sing Sir, a police inspector who suffers from PTSD after surviving a gun battle that paralyzed the lower half of his body. He learns that he must overcome his inner demons in order to survive.

Other TVB stars who appear in the drama include Ben Wong (黃智賢), Sisley Choi (蔡思貝), Mat Yeung (楊明), Oscar Leung (梁烈唯), Hui Shiu-hung (許紹雄), and Grace Wong (王君馨). Shek Sau (石修) and Sharon Chan (陳敏之) make special appearances.

As for non-TVB stars, there is HKFA Best Supporting Actor Philip Keung (姜皓文), who plays the undercover Bingo. Berg Ng (吳廷燁) plays Dominic Yeung, a Chinese-Vietnamese triad boss. The Defected is Berg’s first TVB drama in 36 years.

The Defected is produced by So Man-chung (蘇萬聰) and Carmen So (蘇嘉敏). Check out the teaser trailer below!

  1. The trailer looks exciting and most of the cast acting good though Benjamin’s acting pales in comparison. The biggest concern is the final production, especially since we are talking about current TVB drama storyline, story execution and editing quality.
