“Meteor Garden” Reboot Releases First Trailer
It’s going to be a faithful adaptation, but fans aren’t exactly pleased with the results.
The first trailer for the Meteor Garden <流星花园> reboot just released its first trailer, and fans have mixed feelings. The drama, which is made for Chinese audiences, is the official remake of the 2001 Taiwanese idol drama Meteor Garden, which was the first TV adaptation of the manga Hana Yori Dango. Meteor Garden not only gave rise to stars such as F4 and Barbie Hsu (徐熙媛), but was also a cultural hit, changing the television scene in Asia.
China’s reboot stars Shen Yue (沈月) as Dong Shancai, with rookie actors Dylan Wang (王鹤棣), Darren Chen (官鸿), Connor Leong (梁靖康), and Caesar Wu (吴希泽) as the F4. The trailer opens to Harlem Yu’s (庾澄庆) theme song for Meteor Garden, “Can’t Help Falling in Love with You” <情非得已>, taking viewers back down to memory lane. The trailer highlighted the show’s big-budget production, and included many throwback scenes from the original show.
What got many viewers disappointed, however, was the voice dubbing. Fans criticized the voice dubbing for sounding old-fashioned, like the characters were from the past.

Me too. Girl looks ok but the main lead looks cute. Not so much w/the others. haha lol….The only version I watched a bit more was the Taiwanese version.
I’m looking forward to this. I like the girl and the main guy seem to fit the role. Let see how the acting goes… My favorite F4 version is still Hana Yori Dango! But the Taiwan version will always be the original F4!
