“Mulan” Will Now Be Released on Disney+

The worldwide theatrical release of the anticipated film, Mulan, has been postponed time and time again due to the COVID-19 pandemic since its canceled March premiere. Now, Disney has abandoned the idea of showing the live-action remake of Mulan in North American theaters altogether. On August 5, the entertainment conglomerate announced that Mulan is to debut on Disney+ on September 4.

However, Disney+ members will have to pay an extra fee for watching the blockbuster – a first in Disney+ history. Users will have to fork out an additional $29.99 United States dollars on top of the usual US$6.99 monthly membership cost as Mulan will be considered a premium service on Disney+. The price might differ slightly in other countries like Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and various parts of Europe.

However, the film may still make its way to the big screen on September 4 in regions where Disney+ is not available. For Hong Kong viewers, there is still no decision as to whether or not Mulan will screen in cinemas.

Mulan stars Liu Yifei (also known as Crystal Liu 劉亦菲), Donnie Yen (甄子丹), Jet Li (李連杰), and Gong Li (鞏俐).

Is it really the most anticipated movie of 2020? I think that’s Black Widow or No Time to Die.
Yeah, $30? I’ll pass. I won’t even bother watching it if it’s free. Don’t know what Disney is thinking.

absolutely, that’s why they were hesistant at first. this is the only movie they r doing this, they claim they want to test the water but i suspect they just think people might not want to see chinese on the big screen and at the same time a movie about china right now esp in the western countries.

Exactly and $30 for this movie? You must be kidding me. Even when we watch a movie in the theatre, it is only around $10 at most. No one is going to pay that much for this movie. No way!

Yesssssss……. I’m counting the days…… finally we’ll get to see it (as a family leisurely at home!) Cheaper than going to the theater. Also you maybe able to watch it for 24 hours (if it’s the same format as when Disney+ showed “Trolls The World Tour”!!
Mulan has always been one of my favorite person/heroine in Chinese history/folklore!!!

I haven’t been to the cinema for many years. I get DVDs most of the time. For movies usually it will cost $25 to $30 . Make my own popcorns & watch or lend it to family & friends which is the norm . I am so looking forward to watch this movie from day 1 of the make.

Haha yeah I’m like majority, I’ll just dl, I was never going to support this either way. Also isn’t it better to just wait a bit longer and buy it when it comes out on blu ray…probably cost the same or even cheaper…for those that have already waited this long.
