Netflix Confirms Second Season for “The Victims’ Game”

Netflix has renewed The Victims’ Game <誰是被害者> for a second season, making the crime drama the first original Chinese-language series on Netflix to be renewed for an additional season.

News of the renewal came on September 21, when Netflix announced its plans to extend the series for a new season.

The new season will premiere 2022.

The Victims’ Game stars Joseph Chang (張孝全) as a Fang Yi Jen, a forensic scientist with Asperger’s syndrome. It costars Hsu Wei Ning (許瑋甯) as Hsu Hai Yin, an investigative journalist who came into the picture while investigating Fang’s daughter.

The series, which premiered worldwide on April 30, 2020, topped Netflix’s most-watched list in Taiwan, and stayed number one on the top ten list for an entire month. Joseph Chang was praised for his immaculate portrayal of a professional with Asperger’s, earning him a nomination for Best Actor at the 55th Golden Bell Awards.

While The Victims’ Game is not Netflix’s first original Taiwanese drama series (the first was Nowhere Man <追夢者>, which also starred Joseph Chang), it is the first Taiwanese drama to be renewed for a second season.

The Victims’ Game also features a guest appearance by Ruby Lin (林心如).
