Sammy Sum to Film New Drama with Edwin Siu

After leaving TVB in 2016, Sammy Sum (沈震軒) signed with Sun Entertainment and subsequently Shaw Brothers Studio to work in Mainland projects and web dramas. Appearing opposite Prudence Liew (劉美君) in ViuTV drama Sorina Fok <好人好姐> earlier, Sammy was complimented for his acting and good looks. In January, he announced he is returning to co-lead TVB’s upcoming drama with Edwin Siu (蕭正楠).

The 36-year-old actor’s breakout role was in 2011’s Lives of Omission <潛行狙擊>, so fans are happy to see he will be returning to TVB for a new period drama . Although filming was originally scheduled for March, there have been some delays due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Revealing that he will play Buddhist monk Ji Gong‘s (濟公) friend in the drama, Sammy said, “The filming locations need to be finalized, but the entire drama will be filmed in Hong Kong. I will be filming this drama with Edwin Siu (蕭正楠) where we will be good brothers. The plot is very exciting, so I am looking forward to it. I couldn’t guess the ending until I read the whole script.”

In regards to his feelings on filming for TVB again, Sammy shared, “I get to work with actors I haven’t worked with before. I hope there will be good chemistry.”

  1. He’s so underrated. I quite like him in that undercover cop series w/the tall legged actress I forgot her name. haha lol… He was so good in it and he’s just so unrecognized which is a shame. Hopefully, it will be a good series even thou I am not an Edwin Siu fan.

    1. @wm2017 Maybe that’s why he left TVB.
The drama was Line Walker and the actress was Sharon Chan.

I can’t wait to see Sammy! <3 lol

      1. @mi520 Yes, you are right. Sharon Chan isn’t really a great actress even thou she’s quite cute. I find her esp bad in that lawyer series w/Laughing Gor & Tavia Yeung. She tried so hard to be this ‘pretty girl’ esp a cop role where she didn’t even act 1% a cop but too busy being pretty or she tried a bit too hard. haha lol… I love the guy she was paired up with thou. He was soooo funny. I think she improved a tiny bit in Line Walker.

    2. @wm2017 I’m a little disappointed to learn that Sammy’s comeback drama is a historical drama. I think he has a strong masculinity that is best shown in modern dramas, especially police dramas. Wish he was in “Armed Reaction” instead of Ji Gong, as TVB is stronger in its modern drama productions as opposed to historical dramas in recent years .

      1. @jayne Gosh, I didn’t even read it carefully. hahaha lol…I don’t watch historic dramas. Ooops, even for him I can’t. 🙁 Not sure how he will shine in that kinda role.
