Tracy Chu Goes Back To School As Full-Time Student

Tracy Chu (朱千雪) has been receiving attention for her appearances on the campus of The Chinese University of Hong Kong recently. Many college students snapped photos of the 27-year-old walking around campus and studying in the library.

At a promotional event for TVB’s Pearl channel, Tracy confirmed that she is now back in school, and is enrolled in a one-year masters program as a full-time student at CUHK. School started in September. Many of her classmates had asked for her photo and signature. “A lot of them thought I was filming a drama on campus,” she said. The actress said she will also be working part-time, as she has signed up to make a few guest appearances in various dramas next year.

Tracy, who made her debut through the 2012 Miss Hong Kong Pageant, is TVB’s Most Improved Actress of the year. She won Most Improved TVB Artist at Singapore’s StarHub TVB Awards, Most Improved TVB Actress at the TVB Star Awards Malaysia, and is a hot favorite to win Most Improved Actress again at the upcoming TVB Anniversary Awards.

Facing competition with other rising actresses such as Grace Chan (陳凱琳) and Sisley Choi (蔡思貝), is Tracy afraid that her education will impede her career advancements? Tracy said, “I’m actually more afraid of school, because many of my classmates are younger than me!”

  1. She grew up in Vancouver, but her Chinese has gotten that good in the last few years that she can go to an HK college and know what’s gong on? That’s pretty darn good.

  2. growing up overseas doesn’t mean that your chinese would deteriorate. it’s the environment. there are so many immigrants, even ones arrived at a young age cannot speak the local language well or to speak at all.

  3. Good for her! 🙂 i’m proud of her for being bold enough to take a mini break from entertainment at the peak of her career where she’s a hot favorite for most improved and most likely with lots of promotion from TVB. hope she can work hard this year in her program and get back into acting!

  4. education is for life…for the younger artistes, it is a good backup if they find themselves unable to continue the rigorous entertainment industry.

  6. A lot of them drop their education as soon as they go into the industry, so good on her for paving herself a second option away from the industry.

  7. I think she has a lot of acting potential. I also think it’s smart going back to school too. God for her!

Side bar: I never find her pretty (jusy cute and decent looking) so I still can’t beleive she won MHK runner up. I know it’s old news, just reliving my shock lol. She looks like plain jane without being dolled up. And that’s okay, just saying. I still like her acting much better than Grace, the MHK. Hope this decision doesn’t affect her promo value in TVB eyes.
