Wallace Huo Takes Care of Daughter While Ruby Lin Works

Wallace plays house husband while Ruby films her new drama.

Ruby Lin (林心如), Ivy Chen (陳意涵) and Jian Manshu’s (簡嫚書) new drama Alpha Girlz <她們創業的那些鳥事> opened up press visits on set on June 5, with cast members sharing interesting filming-related stories.

Filmed in central Taiwan, the 24-episode Alpha Girlz has a budget of $2 billion Taiwanese dollars and  focuses on the stories of three female entrepreneurs. Ruby, who is one of the three leads and also the drama’s producer, plays a divorced female.

Leading Ladies Bond Over Motherhood

Though Ruby has already completed all her scenes for Alpha Girlz, she reveals how well she got along with her co-stars. With all three female leads already mothers in real life, they would chat and share parenting-related stories. It turns out that Ruby had actually hated it when others diverged into motherhood-related topics before she herself became a mom, as she would feel left out of the topic. Thus, the three actresses would talk “on the sly”.

When asked if she would consider getting her husband Wallace Huo (霍建華) to guest-star in the drama since she was also involved in production, Ruby replied, “It’s too late–he isn’t suitable either.”

Due to the pandemic, Wallace would stay home to cook and take care of their daughter. Ruby joked, “Now I’m the one to head out for work first!” Though Wallace would bring their daughter “Little Dolphin” on set to support her once a month, staying about an hour each time.

As Ruby is a real estate ambassador, her advertisements could be spotted on public trains and buses in central Taipei. When Little Dolphin was asked what her mother does, the little one would innocently reply, “She sells houses.”
