Ever since Angelababy transitioned her work to Mainland China, her many years of hard work and commitment to the industry has led her to become one of China’s most bankable actresses alongside Cecilia Liu (劉詩詩), Yang Mi (楊冪), and Ni Ni (倪妮). With Angelababy’s rise in popularity, the 29-year-old actress’ every move is scrutinized.
Angelababy Can’t Put On Her Own Shoes?
Recently, a netizen posted a photo of Angelababy’s assistant kneeling down to put on the actress’ shoes for her, which sparked argument and debate on the Internet. In the photo, Angelababy was surrounded by a group of staff. The photo was captioned, “How much does her assistant make annually? Can’t believe she even needs an assistant to put her shoes on.” This picture has sparked so many comments on the Internet including calling her a “princess” in which she needs others to do everything for her, or asking if she was “disabled”.
On the other hand, there are many supportive fans who see the action as normal because there are also countless staff members who assist with hair and makeup to maximize efficiency. Her supporters instantly backfired the discussion with comments such as, “This type of work is meant to be done by assistants”; “Do you expect her to put her own shoes on and then wait in the dressing room”; and “This is what happens when you spend money on an assistant.”
Though the discussion has caused much argument, others just felt that netizens are creating an unnecessary commotion over a small action.

Even big Hollywood stars aren’t surrounded by a dozen staff to help with dressing or holding umbrellas.
Please don’t be lame, it is most likely just a matter of efficiency. Although her acting isn’t good, but obviously to be a huge star in such a big competitive market such as China, you gotta be hardworking. Looks only bring you this far, everyone is good-looking, you still gotta be hardworking and have a good attitude. If they hire this many people to help with the grooming and stuff, it would be rude for the star to do everything herself and not let anyone help her. Those hired people would seem so useless!

@linda I agree with you that having a personal assistance to do those things is fine. However, AB is not hard working :/ not good attitude, her acting is still suck, if she’s that hard working, she would/should improve her acting (look at Charmaine, she was so bad at the beginning but after the criticism, she works hard and now a lot better). AB can’t even do still photographs well let alone acting! (Check out her latest magazine photos!) So efficiency is not it lol.
Could just be that she’s used to be a model, model do have people fix their shoes for them because they couldn’t bend/do it correctly, so it’s a habit that she’s used to and doesn’t want to change.
The way she acts is a disgrace, she treated the assistant like her slave, I can hardly imagine what kind of education her parents taught her in the past.

I hope that ‘she’ does not have horrible stenching feet otherwise it will be a job from hell for the assistant. Also I refuse to call her by her supposed English name because it the most attention seeking unreal name ever…

She chose it because she wants to sound cute and can be called by a pet name from millions of people. Tbh anyone pretty or ugly could have chose the name and it will grab peoples attention. So many embarrassing members here creating excuses for the likes of ‘Prince’ and ‘BabyJohn’ for choosing their names. He was Prince in a theatre play etr. There are millions who have played a Prince or king in a play but don’t name themselves King or Prince. There can’t be a genuine reason because in the end the celebrity has the final decision….
Ask Mariah Carey what is a diva. Hollywood has umbrella holding people. Some stars even hire surrogates to give birth for them. At least Angelababy popped out her own child.

Nowadays many Hollywood actor/actress or reality star name their children with unusual names too like ace knute, ode mountain, rainbow aurora, north west, pilot inspektor, stormi or gravity.
And the trend also spread, every now and then there will news about outraged mother/parents when other people point out that the names are unusual. The most recent one is a mum who named her kid abcde (pronounced as ab-city)
Why is this an issue?
When one signs up for these personal assistant job like this, one does pretty much everything their boss says. Don’t like it? Quite then? Obviously, the pay is worth it. I don’t understand why this is such a big deal when they are just doing their job.
She can put on her own shoes but if the pay is good and the assistant herself is fine with it I don’t see it being something horrible. Also instead of paying to hire that many staff maybe she should spend it on hiring a acting teacher. I mean she’s really pretty but it’s so annoying how these celebs butcher a potential show with their all stiff or mediocre acting.
In my opinion not as pretty as what people think. She just happened to stick the ‘baby’ at the end of the name to seem cute quicker than everyone else….
Why did this spark “much argument?” Too much time on their hands? If taking pic and scenario at face value, the assistance isn’t being kicked or licking her foot or getting s*xual harassed or being asked about her 18 ancestors; so what’s the problem?
Making dust out of thin air is what keep making talentless ‘pseudo-beauty’ in limelight and relevant. Pity.
I don’t know if this is her recently pictures because I remember last time she cut off her hair real short like a guy style? I have to said what a spoiled brat!!
Not a fan, but in context, most likely there were people fixing her hair and makeup at the same time, so her assistant probably willingly helped with her shoes to get her ready faster. If you guys have been onset before, or worked behind the scenes at a function you’d know that’s it’s a regular occurrence. It’s not degrading at all for someone who signed on as a personal assistant. It’s just work, and if you’re lucky, you also form a close bond with your employer.
