Xiao Zhan’s Earning Power Surges

Mainland Chinese actor Sean Xiao Zhan (肖戰) officially began managing his own studio in full after ending his ten-year contract with his former agency, Wajijiwa Entertainment last year, and striking out on his own. Since regaining his independence, Xiao Zhan’s earning power has been nothing short of astonishing, and he has reportedly been taking on jobs one after another at an intense pace.

Over RMB 200 Million Pumped In
Following the recent wrap of his last drama, A Good Prescription <小城良方>, Xiao Zhan has now flown from Beijing to Qingdao to officially join the production team of another major new project, sci-fi suspense drama Ten Days Ultimatun <十日終焉>, where he has begun script readings and filming preparations. This time, Xiao Zhan is breaking away from his previous image and taking on, for the first time, a Chinese-style “infinite flow” suspense drama, in which he plays the male lead, a complex character with a highly intelligent, strategic mind yet at once emotionally fractured.

To recreate the story’s stunning scenes, the production is reportedly sparing no expense, with its total investment reportedly exceeding RMB 200 million. In addition to bringing in MORE VFX – the special effects team behind The Wandering Earth <流浪地球> – the crew has also specially constructed an 8,000 sqm virtual studio in an effort to faithfully bring to life the mysterious “Land of the End” from the original work. Besides Xiao Zhan as the leading man, it is also reported that acclaimed young actors Charles Hu Xianxu (胡先煦) and Aarif Rahman (李治廷) will join the cast and share scenes with him.

Back-to-back Job Schedule
Xiao Zhan’s schedule is already packed to the brim. After completing this drama, he will reportedly move straight into filming his next project, war drama Chongqing Hao <重慶號>. There are also new developments on the film side, as rumors say he is currently in talks for a new movie directed by renowned filmmaker Stanley Tong (季禮執), and the female lead is said to possibly be either Crystal Liu Yifei (劉亦菲) or Tiffany Tang Yan (唐嫣), both top-tier actresses. At present, he has several dramas awaiting release, remaining strong on the popularity radar.
