Bosco Wong’s Despicable Role in “Queen of News 2”
The highly anticipated sequel, Queen of News 2 (新聞女王2), finally premiered this week on Chinese streaming platforms. While viewers are shocked to see Kenneth Ma’s (馬國明) character died in the first episode, most of the familiar faces from the prequel are back, including Charmaine Sheh (佘詩曼), Selena Lee (李詩嬅), Samantha Ko (高海寧), Hera Chan (陳曉華), and Matthew Ho (何廣沛). Newly added to the cast is Bosco Wong (黃宗澤), who stars as the male antagonist opposite Charmaine.
Prior to the series premiere, Charmaine teased in interviews that Bosco’s character is despicable. In the first few episodes, Bosco takes over SKN news and his villainous actions have already riled up viewers. With zero journalism background, Bosco runs the newsroom like a ruthless businessman, focusing only on the ads and revenue that the station can garner rather than the news content itself.
In a scene where Charmaine’s character takes a helicopter to capture dramatic footage of a collapsing building, Bosco coldly remarks, “If [the helicopter] crashes, that’s breaking news!”
In just the first few episodes, viewers are already invested in the drama and have taken sides. The subsequent episodes of the drama are expected to generate more twists and turns in the plot.
