Kim Soo Hyun’s Lawyer Gives Update on Controversial Case

South Korean actor Kim Soo Hyun has been engulfed in controversy since earlier this year, when Kim Sae Ron’s family accused him of dating the late actress while she was still a minor. Although Kim Soo Hyun insisted the relationship only began after she became an adult, his image took a devastating hit. With endorsement deals terminated overnight and brands demanded compensation due to his tarnished image, Kim Soo Hyun filed a countersuit against both Kim Sae Ron’s family and the South Korean tabloid Garo Sero Research Institute.

With the case not yet brought to court, Kim Soo Hyun’s attorney took to social media to address the family and the tabloid’s claims. On Garo Sero Research Institute’s past claims to possessing “thousands of photos” proving that Kim Soo Hyun dated Kim Sae Ron while she was underage, his attorney expressed, “Thousands of photos simply cannot exist. Of course they don’t exist. The attorney representing Kim Sae Ron’s family says he doesn’t know why the channel would make such statements either.”

In another claim, Kim Sae Ron’s family referenced a publicly released intimate photo that was allegedly taken in February 2020. However, her family believed her claim that the photo was actually taken during her high school years. To this, Kim Soo Hyun’s attorney cited the claim as “completely implausible.” The family also released what they claimed were chat logs between Kim Soo Hyun and Kim Sae Ron, dating back to June 2016. As the sender was merely labeled as “Unknown,” Kim Soo Hyun’s lawyer dismissed the allegation as “groundless and absurd.”
