C Kwan Was Afraid of Being Controlled in a Marriage

In The Exorcist’s 2nd Meter <降魔的2.0>C Kwan (鄭詩君) plays a guardian lion spirit who likes to ogle at the women around him. However, C Kwan revealed in an interview that he is the complete opposite of his character. Not only is the 36-year-old FAMA member respectful of women, but he is also a devoted husband to Wong Tin Yee (黃天頤), whom he hopes to give a good life.

When it comes to providing for his family, the rapper-actor said he is capable when it comes to investments, but he also likes to spend, so he lets Tin Yee handle all the finances. “It’s funny though because she doesn’t know how to deal with finances. She doesn’t know how to invest, but she also doesn’t like to spend a lot of money. I don’t wish for more money, I just wish it won’t decrease,” C Kwan expressed.

He Was Hesitant About Marriage

Aside from entrusting Tin Yee with financial affairs, he also strives to make her happy. Tin Yee previously revealed C Kwan would write her love letters as a birthday present. C Kwan said, “I don’t think I have to devise schemes to treat my wife well. If you love her and love living with her, you will obviously want her to be happy. But I don’t deliberately do things to make her happy. I think my wife and I are very happy and sweet. We find a lot of happy moments in our life together, and she makes me smile.”

Although he speaks fondly of their union, he revealed the idea of marriage turned him off in the past. In fact, he thought he would never get married – until he met his wife.

“Visualizations about the future might sometimes be a reality. I used to think that someone would be controlling me in a marriage,” he explained. “When I was little, I did not like my parents controlling me, so I earned money to be independent. I don’t like to listen to others, and I want to sleep or eat whenever I want. So I used to be hesitant about marriage because of these restrictions.”

However, after meeting his wife, he realized that once you love someone, you would always want them by your side. Tin Yee also understands the difficulty of getting along with others, especially in the same space. “You must mutually love each other to be together,” she once said.

The Couple Might Not Have Kids

As expected, many people asked the couple about their baby-making plans following their wedding. However, C Kwan and his wife are considering not having kids. Although the doctor said his Thalassemia blood disorder, which he inherited at birth, would not affect his children, C Kwan said, “We are not that eager to have kids. We enjoy each other’s company and also the lifestyle of just two people.”

Though many people around him are already parents, he is worried about society’s pressure on kids. “Seeing all my parent friends like Billy Luk (陸永) having to constantly worry about their children’s futures makes me hesitant about having kids,” C Kwan expressed. “The world has too many expectations on kids these days. I see that kids already need to know how to read and write before kindergarten. I am shocked at how smart they are because they know way more than I did when I was little. However, in reality, even though they know a lot, it doesn’t mean they are smart, it just means that the competition is too great.”

Despite his uncertainty about expanding his family, C Kwan only hopes that he will have a happy marriage. He had said during his vows, “Marriage does not have all the answers. We all watch the news and statistics tell us that marriage can end tragically. However, if we are happy, we might be the lucky ones.”

  1. They seem like a compatible pair. Expectations on children, especially like those in HK are crazy high.

    1. @bubbles23 Not just HK. It is the same case in Singapore here. I have had colleagues who would quit their jobs when their kids are on the verge to take PSLE (Elementary Year 6) exams.
