Andy Lau Cancels Year-End Hong Kong Concert

Andy Lau (劉德華) has canceled his New Year’s Eve concert in Hong Kong.

On January 17, the actor-singer injured his lower back while shooting a commercial in Thailand, suffering spinal fractures. He was hospitalized for over 50 days from his injuries, and is now recovering at home. Andy originally had plans to hold a New Year’s Eve concert at the Hong Kong Coliseum this year, but has ultimately decided to cancel those plans due to his injury.

His agency stated, “Our company’s artiste Andy Lau suffered a work-related injury on January 17, 2017. He is currently on the stage of recovery. For a more complete and solid recovery, Mr. Andy Lau’s medical team recommended a longer rest period. Therefore, our company has decided to cancel the plans for his year-end Hong Kong concert.”

In regards to Andy’s other work commitments for 2017, his agency will re-schedule them based on his recovery progress and his doctor’s recommendations. It is reported that Andy has lost an additional income of at least $20 million HKD due to his injury.
