Myolie Wu’s Husband Hugs Bosco Wong
TVB Best Actor Bosco Wong (黃宗澤) recently travelled to Malaysia to attend the Cultural Exchange Night – Malaysia event. While there, he also made time to enjoy a meal with friends at a well-known local restaurant, where an unexpected encounter turned the casual gathering into a major talking point online.
A netizen captured the moment Bosco unexpectedly bumped into Philip Lee (李乘德), the husband of his ex-girlfriend Myolie Wu (胡杏兒). Rather than avoiding each other, the two greeted one another warmly with a hug. The clip quickly went viral, sparking plenty of discussion among netizens.
Bosco was the first boyfriend Myolie publicly acknowledged after entering showbiz. The pair fell in love after working together on the classic TVB drama, Wars of In-Laws <我的野蠻奶奶> and were once regarded as one of Hong Kong entertainment’s golden couples. When Myolie won Best Actress in 2011, she even famously declared onstage: “I know I can be difficult, and you can be difficult too. I hope we can continue putting up with each other,”
Myolie Wu Says Philip and Bosco Had Never Met Before
Myolie appeared at the Po Leung Kuk Charity Concert <保良局慈善演唱會> on August 14 and was asked by the media about Philip’s chance encounter — and hug — with her former boyfriend Bosco.
Responding candidly, Myolie revealed that the two men had actually never met before. “Actually, it’s true that they didn’t know each other,” she said. “But social media is so widespread nowadays. You see people in videos or on Instagram all the time, and you start to feel as though you know them,”
Myolie explained that she has experienced the same thing herself, “Sometimes I’ll scroll past someone online whom I’ve never actually met, but because I see them so often or follow what they’re doing, if I eventually meet them in person, it almost feels like meeting a friend.”
“It was just a very normal greeting — saying hello. You’re not going to suddenly pretend you can’t see the other person for no reason. Adults wouldn’t behave that way,”
Philip Couldn’t Hear What Bosco Was Saying
Some netizens believed Bosco and Philip exchanged a few words while hugging, but Myolie clarified that Philip actually could not hear what Bosco was saying at the time. “He told me afterwards that he couldn’t hear Bosco, so they just hugged,” she explained. “Even giving someone a hug is perfectly normal socially. Everyone’s an adult, and so many years have already passed,”
“He didn’t tell me! He didn’t bring it up whatsoever!” said Myolie, who revealed that her hubby had not reported the encounter to her afterwards. Instead, she discovered the viral clip herself while scrolling through her phone, and thought, ‘What happened? Why has this become such a big deal?! Oh no, reporters are definitely going to ask me about this when I get back!’”
She later asked her husband why he had never told her about the encounter. “I asked him, ‘Why didn’t you tell me?’ And he said, ‘I’d completely forgotten that it even happened.’” Myolie said that, from Philip’s perspective, the encounter was as casual as running into an ordinary friend, which was why he never felt there was anything worth specifically reporting to her.
