Chilam Cheung Reveals Bare Chest in Hong Kong Coliseum Concert

Completing his first concert performance at the Hong Kong Coliseum yesterday, Chilam Cheung dressed as an astronaut and revealed his six-pack abdomen. He also paid tribute to the late Leslie Cheung. Charlene Choi and the Grasshoppers appeared as guest performers.

Chilam’s wife, Anita Yuen Wing Yee, Christine Ng Wing Mei, Chingmy Yau Suk Ching, and Shum Ka Wai attended the concert. At the concert, Chilam spoke about his love life, from dating, marriage, to becoming a parent. Although many people did not support Chilam revealing his love life publicly, he never regretted doing so. He felt very fortunate that he gained a family from entering the entertainment industry. Upon hearing this, Anita’s eyes brimmed with tears and Christine became very emotional as well.

Family photos of Chilam, Anita, and his son, Morton were displayed. There was even a photo of Anita holding their newborn son. He thanked Anita for giving him a family and wished Morton will grow up healthily and happily.

Guest Performances

Chilam sang his first duet hit song, Modern Love Story <現代愛情故事> with Charlene Choi. After collaborating with Charlene, Chilam said, “I liked this little sister a lot!” Charlene laughed and said, “I know your songs very well and even bought your YES cards!”

Choi Yat Kit, and Choi Yat Chi were guest performers at Chilam’s concert. Since Grasshoppers member, So Chi Wai, could not attend, Chilam joked and said that he was a new member of the new Grasshoppers. The trio sang the song, <三分鐘放縱>, which was received by fans excitedly.

Paradise Choi

Afterwards, Chilam revealed that Choi Yat Chi held a pessimistic attitude in the past. “He used to call frequently at night, saying he wanted to die and could not hold up anymore. Even Eason Chan received these calls from Ah Chi.” Chilam told Eason, “If he truly died, tell him to watch over us!” Thus, Eason created a nickname for him, Paradise Choi (蔡天堂). Choi Yat Kit noted that due to Chilam’s cheerful outlook, he often helped friends solve their problems.

Jayne: Chilam looks so skinny in his concert photos. The wrinkles on his face seems deeper after he lost weight. I think he should have kept his weight and his shirt on for the concert. He never exploited his sexual appeal in his career anyway. Chilam has always been the handsome and buttoned-up type.

Chilam always acknowledge his wife and son in all his interviews, so it was nice to see he did the same at the concert.

I was surprised to hear about the suicidal tendencies of Choi Yat Chi. Grasshoppers enjoyed wild fame at their peak…perhaps it was after their peak that Choi Yat Chi got depressed?

Responses

  1. Chilam looks very gaunt, almost anorexic, much more noticeable than his 6-pack. No wonder Anita described him as looking like a ‘ghost’ during his pre-concert preparation/diet in another news article!

  2. erghhh……….

Dislike the ribs showing (( OMG)))
I agree with Jayne, he looks better when was was a little rounder. He looks 5 yrs older and his wrinkles are def obvious. He’s very charming and had that youthful look, until now when he started to lose weight.

  3. “I was surprised to hear about the suicidal tendencies of Choi Yat Chi. Grasshoppers enjoyed wild fame at their peak…perhaps it was after their peak that Choi Yat Chi got depressed?”

I think artists are more prone to depression because they feel greatly. Artistic people think a lot, feel a lot. That’s how the produce great work.

Many people think that a person can only get depressed because something major or traumatic happen in their life. But, it’s not true. People can have a very normal life but can slowly develop depression and the cause is hard to find out.

I think it’s kinda simplistic to assign the cause of his suicidal tendency to simply lost of fame.

    1. Sometimes being a singer or actor can be very reclusive and cut off from many many things, especially when they go on tour. It can be depressing. You can feel like you’re shut into a very alienated world, hence the dangerous habits like drugs, prostitutes, etc

It has nothing to do with just lost of fame. Could be one of the reasons.

  4. “He never exploited his sexual appeal in his career anyway.”

    He shot a nude photobook.

Sorry, I still like Chilam but his ribs scared me a bit.

    1. Give me five.

Dude, I love you; you’re adorable and all, but please keep the buttons on. It’s scary to look at your bones. Anita, please make him eat more 😛

    1. He acts Leslie Cheung in this song. Leslie revealed his chest in the clip. I think Leslie has nice body.

      1. I still think he should button up. The problem with asian stars is they think being skinny is healthy, having a six pack in a probably zero fat body (with bones jutting out everywhere) is masculine. Muscle and fat goes together, as in fill up a bit. It is not sexy. Do you feel like ripping his clothes off and go SO SEXY! to him? I feel like feeding him a bowl of noodle and some protein bars.

  5. Ahhh He looks like a ghost. All pale and boney…he should just keep his normal look with the whole good guy button up look, it just looks funny. It’s kinda weird how Charlene Choi would be his guest…never knew they even knew each other. THey should of invited Myolie Wu, since they have a duet together and they are both with the same company. Its nice that he talked about his kid, and wife, eventhough most people probably wanted him to sing.

  6. WOW, he is so skinny! I really wished that he did not lose all of that weight. He should have just kept his weight. Being skinnier does not imply that one will look better.

It is really touching for Chilam to mention Anita and Morton all the time. How sweet and glad that he is so open to share his love life with everyone. Glad to know that he is friends with Charlene and Grasshopper.

Life in the circle is a lot harder then we all think. The load of work, schedule, stress and so many other factors and burdens will just pile up on your shoulders. ON the outside, it looks so glamourous with all of the fame and fortune that you have when you are at the height of your career, but what happens when you fall from it?? Of course, losing fame is not the only reason that you would ever think of suicide. THere are many that commit suicide when they are at the highest peak of their career. Each person is different and gets depressed due to different things, so no one really knows the reasons why a person chooses to end their life. I find suicide the most prevalent with Korean artists. You hear one story after another of them ending their lives. We can all only speculate and guess why they do it but no one truly knows why. I guess we will never know the truth…

  7. …ribs…skinny..he should not have lost so much weight to prepare for this concert. I wonder how is ribs were received by the audience in his concerts? It’s nice to hear that Chi Lam has a cheerful personality. He and his wife both look like they are cheerful people. But not all of us can be cheerful all the time :T

Depression has been shown to be genetic I believe, or at least likelihood to become so. My father, myself, and both brothers have gone through depressive episodes for different reasons…but I’d bet the disposition to be so was inherited from my father’s side. And yes, I agree with the other sentiments that artistic temperaments are also more likely to become depressed or have depressing thoughts. Among Koreans, I read somewhere, have one of the largest rates of suicides in the world, possibly 2nd or 3rd. And then to be in the industry as well?

    1. With HK media’s tendency to attack artistes at all cost I’m amazed that HK stars are not prone to suicide.

The latest rumor attack from Hong Kong tabloid is the so-called-AIDS?HIV?-patient-Mr.Y. Gards. Since there are only “hints” being released I can already see several innocent names being pointed out. Sigh.

This sounds like a fake rumor to me so far. However even if Mr. Y did exist, a patient’s medical information should’ve been “Private and Confidential” and from the article in that X Weekly magazine, Y is hiding his illness. How can this private hospital or clinic freely tipping out a patient’s Private and Confidential information to the media? Some integrity there, you can be sued.

      1. The Chinese media in the internet is even worse. They reposted the rumor on their website and weibo with some artiste’s big pictures in the article; when in factthe artiste is only giving his comments to the article, and Netizens jumped out and freak out without even reading the content. Gards. The internet is scary.

      2. @Masaharu,
Thanks for the info… Now that I think about it, the internet has enriched our lives but has also bought us a lot of new problems that did not exist before. THere are pros and cons to everything I guess. I wonder if we can all go back to the days without the internet?? I am guessing no way since everything is online these days. I wonder how we survived all of those years without it???

When watching modern series now, we see cell phones being used all the time. BUt when I watch modern series from the 80s and even the 90s, cell phones are no where in sight… Technology enhancement is really showing in every aspect of our lives.

      3. I wonder if we can all go back to the days without the internet?? I am guessing no way since everything is online these days. I wonder how we survived all of those years without it???

        ———–

I guess if we were forced to survive without internet, it would be very tough at first, but humans in general are a adaptable people so many it’s possible for some not for other.. As to how we survived before, i guess since we did not have internet before, we did not need it to survive. It’s easy to go by when we have never experience something but hard to go back after that… Just my two cents

      4. Cy good point. In the past we survived by writing snail mails to newspaper columns or inviting friends out for an actual drink. What you don’t have and never experienced you won’t miss.

  8. I’m not sure how this is sex-appeal…. if he wanted to do sex appeal, he should have bulked up and not have gotten so thin.

  9. There was also Bondy Chiu Hok Yee attending the concert. She was sitting together with Anita Yuen and Christine Ng. They are close friends.

  10. I totally agree with you Jayne. I like him more in the Rippling Blossom. He should gain back the weight. Regards to Chi Lam and Anita.

  11. He looks gaunt and I think if he wants to rip off his clothes, he needs a tan too!

    not so cute anymore!

  12. I like Chi Lam very much. He’s got such boyish and appealing looks and his acting is pretty good too. I’ve seen ‘The Rippling Blossom’ and thought he looked great in it, so why why did he want to look thinner? Then, it’s so unlike his nature, I think, to do a thing like baring his chest, especially in public and I also think it poor taste to have reveaed his friend’s medical complaint. Hope he doesn’t do these things again.

  13. Chi lam is too skinny 🙁 it’s looks not very healthy. It’s reminds me of andy lau. On his concert, he is always skinny 🙁

What do you guys think about Anita? She has a normal figure. But after her birth of Morton, her face is very fully. It’s seems like she drink a lot’s of water before she going to sleep. And she always wear black. Why? Cuz, I do think she has a nice, slim figure…..

  14. He looks sick!! He should stay being the cute boyish guy that’s a better look and healthier looking! This is just a skeleton singing and its not hot at all

  15. Just like raymond and all the other artistes who are having a concert and need to keep “fit”, they dont understand that you still need to eat alot to gain muscles o.o… Not eating enough will only gain them bony muscles which is what chilam looks like now. I remember he saying he’s trying to avoid eating as much as he usually eats.

  16. Hi Jayne and all,

Is the boy in the picture with someone holding him is Morton (Chilam’s son)?

    The boy is handsome!

    1. He is happily married with child. Why would taking off clothes mean he is closet gay?

    1. X-ray film? I regret clicking the picture. Such large picture. So very very thin.

      1. He’s a walking skeleton. I want to feed him protein and rice right now

    2. Chilam shouldn’t have bared his chest…. To build that extra muscle quickly, he should have gone on a high protein diet and done a lot of weight lifting. That’s what Vincent Wong did to film “Flying Tigers” he followed a special diet and exercise from his fitness trainer and pumped up his muscles in 12 weeks!

Chilam’s company, Neway, should have found better professional guidance to help Chilam achieve ideal body. Or if the results can’t be achieve, then he could have worn a transparent patterned shirt (similar to Choi Yat Kit) to reveal some skin, but not too much.

Overall, the costumes are a little tacky and not exactly fashion forward.

  17. I don’t understand why ChiLam had to lose so much weight for this concert? If it was supposed to do something for his image and concert, it has backfired. He looks so unhealthy and weak. I really hope that he gains the weight back because it will better for his physical appearance and health.

  18. He needs a better trainer. His six pack does not look tone or good, need to build some muscle. He should get one of the Korean Stars trainer. They are thin with six pack but super muscle and tone, not sick looking.

  19. That boy in one of the picture is not Morton, it’s Morton’s cousin lol (Anita’s nephew) His son holds Buzz light year lol
