Actor Gabriel Harrison Raises Funds for Wife’s Medical Emergency

Hong Kong actor Gabriel Harrison (海俊傑) recently made headlines when he uploaded a tearful video, pleading for help and hoping to raise funds for his wife, Effie Mok (莫家慈). The 40-year-old makeup artist was recently hospitalized due to sudden acute liver failure, requiring $1.5 million Hong Kong dollars to fund hospital stays and a lifesaving liver transplant.

In the video, a visibly distraught Gabriel shared he had only managed to raise HK$700,000 thus far and was taking to the public to help raise emergency funds.

Shocked by the news, the entertainment circle quickly rallied behind the couple. Celebrities such as Louis Koo (古天樂), Aaron Kwok (郭富城), Eric Tsang (曾志偉), as well as industry insiders such as Florence Chen (陳淑芬) and Siu Mei (梁美薇) all lent helping hands.

Gabriel quickly raised HK$790,000 in a matter of hours. The overwhelming show of support left Gabriel deeply moved. He promised that once Effie pulls through and returns home safely, any unused donations will be refunded. He also plans to publicly disclose all receipts and medical expenses to show donors exactly how their contributions were used.

Effie is currently being treated in Guangzhou and is in stable condition while waiting for a suitable donor. Gabriel hopes that once surgery is complete, he can arrange to have Effie transferred back to Hong Kong to continue recovery.
