Brigitte Lin’s Luxury Home Burns for Hours

Smoke was seen billowing out from cinematic icon and screen goddess Brigitte Lin Ching-hsia‘s (林青霞) luxury mansion in Hong Kong, as it caught fire in the early morning of Friday, July 8. It was understood that the 67-year-old and her family were not in the home at the time, and no injuries were reported.

Built on a hill on 9 Anderson Road at Kowloon Peak, a fire was reported in one of the bathrooms of the 50,000 square feet mansion. Numerous firefighting crew were seen battling the blaze with hosepipes and water jets, as thick smoke billowed out of part of the structure. A group of eighteen individuals, mostly domestic staff, were evacuated along with family dogs before help arrived. The Hong Kong Fire Services Department reported that the fire was escalated to a level three incident at one point due to the intensity of the fire, which covered a 30-meter by 30-meter area.

A Birthday Gift from Billionaire Husband
Valued at over $1 billion HKD, the mansion was a gift from her billionaire businessman Michael Ying (邢李㷧) for the former screen goddess’ sixtieth birthday. He had spent a reported $600 million HKD to build the three-storey mansion, which has twelve rooms and various facilities, which include a temperature-controlled pool, private cinema, art studio, luxury gym, dance studio and rooftop tennis court.
