Charmaine Sheh Shares Financial Management Tips

With a string of successful dramas, Charmaine Sheh (佘詩曼)is one of Hong Kong’s highest-compensated actresses. In a new commercial for HSBC Bank, Charmaine starred as an account manager.
Although it was just a commercial, Charmaine took her job seriously and learned the daily work of an account manager. Maintaining her professionalism, Charmaine took into consideration the details surrounding the characteristics, demeanor, and skills of an account manager to give a convincing performance. She expressed, “If I didn’t played the role, I wouldn’t have known an account manager has to be so sharp.”
Besides preparing for the commercial, Charmaine took the opportunity to learn about investing and financial planning and shared her newfound knowledge with close friends. Since many of her friends have children, Charmaine plans to share about the education support provided by the bank. “There wasn’t such a service when I was a child. Even if I wanted to learn more about financial help for my studies and education, I didn’t know where to begin or who to ask. It put a lot of pressure on my family.” As such, Charmaine believes that parents should be more proactive in seeking out information to help enhance their children’s educational endeavors. “Many [of my friends] have children. The education support service [from the bank] is very suitable for them. It helps reduce parental pressure, so my friends can have one less thing to worry about.”
As for upcoming plans, Charmaine is preparing to start filming a new drama. Believing health is wealth, she said, “Since I often travel for work, it is crucial to have health insurance. When choosing insurance, I will pay special attention to whether the coverage is limited to the local area. This ensures that I can work with peace of mind no matter where I am.” In addition to having health insurance, Charmaine also takes preventative measures by having regular physical exams.
When asked about tips on gaining wealth through financial management, Charmaine said, “Saving money is important. However, many people save money but don’t plan for the future, so it’s easy to spend their savings. As long as you know how to choose insurance plans, you can have flexibility with your money to increase your wealth. I’d suggest finding professionals to provide personalized advice, such as how to allocate income, savings, and investments. This will help grow your money.” Recalling her own experience, Charmaine admitted to not allocating her resources correctly when she was younger. “Don’t assume that you can just let things take their course when you are young. The earlier you plan, the earlier you can retire and enjoy life.”
