Kim Nam Gil and Cha Eun Woo’s “Island” to Premiere on December 30

Starring Kim Nam Gil, Cha Eun Woo, Lee Da Hee, and Sung Joon, upcoming TVING’s fantasy thriller Island is set to premiere on December 30. Gearing up for its release, the team released a video of the drama’s first script reading, which also included short interview clips of the actors in their costumes. Fans are charged with excitement as they ready for a wild ride into the demon world.

Island is adapted from the popular webtoon of the same name written by author Yoon In Wan. The story follows troublemaker heiress Won Mi Ho (Lee Da Hee) angering her father with her careless mistake, and is punished to work and redeem herself in Jeju Island. Unknown to her, the unimaginable happens as the island is overrun by demons hunting for human blood. Seeking survival, she strikes a deal with the monster killer Van (Kim Nam Gil) and encounters other individuals including priest Yo Han (Cha Eun Woo) and mysterious hunter Kung Tan (Sung Joon).

In the script reading video, the cast displayed a harmonious atmosphere as they practiced their lines along with the support of the director Bae Jong, who expressed, “While there are a lot of scenes that are beyond one’s wildest dreams, I hope the drama can bring great inspiration and entertainment to viewers.”

Besides the visually stunning cast, every actor appears to have perfectly embodied their characters. In particular, Sung Joon attracts the most attention as with his long wavy gray hair. He will be playing Nam Gil’s antagonist, which is hyped as one of the drama’s main highlights.
