Ron Ng Disgruntled At Kenneth Ma For Stealing Limelight?
Recent rumors surfaced that on the set of Hong Kong TVB drama, Silver Spoon, Sterling Shackles 名媛望族 (formerly known as Prominent Family), Ron Ng (吳卓羲l) appeared disgruntled that his screen time was less than costar, Kenneth Ma (馬國明). Ron allegedly appeared listless on the set and did not seem focused on his acting.
Ron Ng entered TVB in 1998 and has acted in television dramas for 14 years. Kenneth Ma graduated from TVB 14th Acting Class in 2000 and has been in the industry for 12 years. Both actors were part of the heavily promoted S4 pilot trainees in 2003 Triumph in the Skies <衝上雲宵>. Kenneth has been able to cement his status as a leading actor in recent years, with his acting winning critical praise. With Kenneth’s popularity surging since the broadcast of popular medical drama, The Hippocratic Crush <On Call 36小時>, his onscreen time has been increased in Silver Spoon, Sterling Shackles.
However, Ron Ng’s career appeared to be at a standstill, in which he has not quite ascended to a first-line actor yet. Allegedly, Ron had rejected three mainland China dramas in order to film Silver Spoon, Sterling Shackles, thus losing out a more desirable income, which led to his disgruntlement on set. A production crew member indicated that Ron appeared to be unfocused during filming, delivering the dialogue and gestures asked of him, but not anything more.
Ron Ng Strongly Denies Rumors
Ron Ng appeared at a Shenzhen fashion event last Sunday, March 18th, where he denied rumors that he appeared listless on the set of Silver Spoon, Sterling Shackles. Ron asked, “Who started such rumors? There is no such thing! I will portray a villain in the drama and there will be many challenging opportunities to perform near the last segment of the story.”
Kenneth Ma also vouched that Ron was focused in his acting on set. Kenneth stated, “I did not sense that Ron was listless. Actually, his scenes are plentiful in the drama, especially towards the end when he enacts his revenge. At that point, Ron will be leading the plot movement.”
In addition, Ron denied that he was jealous of costar, Kenneth Ma, and did not mind that he played a supporting role in Silver Spoon, Sterling Shackles. Ron said, “I am not unhappy. Since it is the company’s arrangement, I will do the job!”
After completing Silver Spoon, Sterling Shackles, Ron and Kenneth will once again partner together in another heavyweight TVB drama, Triumph in the Skies 2, slated to start filming in May 2012.
Ron Shows His Flab
At last week’s fashion promotional event in Shenzhen, Ron Ng wore knee-length cropped pants, a purple scarf, and a mesh shirt, which revealed his entire backside. Despite filming day and night for new TVB drama, Silver Spoon, Sterling Shackles, it appeared that Ron Ng packed on extra pounds to his normally muscular body and possessed “love handles.” Did the lengthy filming hours prevent Ron from his normal gym routine, thus turning former muscle to flab?
Other artists appearing at the Shenzhen event included Bosco Wong (黃宗澤), Kate Tsui (徐子珊), Lai Lok Yi (黎諾懿) and Sharon Chan (陳敏之). While the ladies looked lovely in figure hugging dresses showing off their fit figures, the men’s fashions were quite daring, with Bosco wearing a pink quilted coat and Lok Yi appearing in yellow shorts and a leopard and floral printed scarf.

Jayne: Kenneth is definitely gaining greater prominence at TVB. Earlier, I had questioned whether he would be able to carry the 40-episode Silver Spoon, Sterling Shackles, but his popularity after The Hippocratic Crush answered that question.
It will be interesting to see how the screen time between Kenneth and Ron will be appropriated in the upcoming Triumph in the Skies 2, since Ron’s character was much more significant in the original series.
Die lar! When he is concentrating already looks like he is spaced out, so when he is listless, wouldn’t he looked totally and absolutely stoned?

He lacks acting talent, doesn’t work hard, bad fashion sense, developing “love handles” he will soon be overshadowed by newbies.
Not sure if he works hard, but totally agree on the lack of acting talent and ridiculous dress sense. He needs to know the difference between bold fashion and poor fashion.

yeah, it could be the event sponsor. Fine. But what about other occasions? He usually dresses like Eason-Chan-in-concert except Ron’s not having a concert.

Both Ron and Eason have shown preference for harem pants in the past. Ron looks quite good in the harem pants though, maybe because his broad shoulders are able to offset the “droopy bottom” that harem pants give the impression of. Me? I’ll never want to bring attention to my pear-shaped bottom hehe.
I thought Ron looked quite good at past black-tie events. Actually, I find that Bosco’s fashion is a lot more daring and thus resulting in more fashion mishaps.
Ron always give me impression that he always pay less attention in his acting and love to play so much. But recently he done good job in few series especially in L’Escargot . Maybe his mentality start to mature.
Kenneth popularity after THC will help him carry the 40 episodes grand drama SSSS!
I don’t think TITS2 will follow original story so TVB is free to change the order of the cast so possible that Kenneth can get a more prominent character given his popularity after THC.

I suspect Ron’s flab is not from over eating. Muscles need constant use. Those “love handles” will disappear as soon as he has time to lift weights again.
Bosco was able to pull off the quilted pink jacket thought. Is it really a men’s design?? Or he shopped in the ladies’ section? I’ve seen guys rock pink shirts and ties, but don’t really see a lot of pink coats.

Sharon is the only one that looked normal. Ron’s mesh shirt looks gay, Kate’s over fried hair looks like a mess, and Bosco’s pink coat is 3 sizes too big for him.

Although Kate’s hair was a bit fried, she looked super sexy in that BCBG (?) bandage dress. She loves those bandage dresses, since she has been spotted wearing these designs on many occasions.

I hope that Ron and Kenneth aren’t mad at each other but I guess it is hard to not be when you are competing in the same field.
I hope not… I don’t see why Kenneth would be mad at Ron and if Ron was rational, he shouldn’t be mad at Kenneth either. I mean, if anything the reporters are the ones making things up and Kenneth actually defended Ron. But envy is always possible and it doesn’t have to be rational.

My guess is that those aren’t love handles at all… it’s actually an optical illusion caused by the mesh shirt Ron is wearing. If you look closely you’ll see it’s not his skin that’s twisting underneath, it’s just the shirt and it gives the appearance of “flab”
It’s not just his clothes. There does seem to be some flabby meat there at his back near the waist.
Again, I think that is an optical illusion caused by the mesh on the shirt. No one’s spine twists like that while walking up stairs.
I read this site because even though I’m an ABC, I totally watch the dramas! However, I’ve always been a reader and never a commenter… until now. I just wanted to point out (in case you didn’t know) that you guys have shortened Triumph in the Skies 2 by using their initials but in English, TITS is crude slang for women’s breasts. Also, Jane, a real Herve Leger is usually over a thousand USD.

Thanks for pointing out that Herve Leger dresses are much more expensive. I must have quoted the knock off price for a dress based on that design, without realizing it.

This pink Herve Leger dress may have been from the 2008 collection, since Leona Lewis had worn it back in 2008. So Kate may have been able to get a slight discount on the dress since it is from an older collection?

lots of ppl have worn these Herve Leger dresses…. Kim Kardashian, Posh Spice, Nicole Richie, Paris Hilton… have over worn these many years ago….. its old style. even Tavia, Fala and Myolie have all worn it before. Just in different colors.
The shortening of Triumph in the Skies 2 to TITS has also somewhat irked me as well because of the English slang meaning. I’m just not sure there is another way to shorten it since most usually shorten series names this way.

“Silver Spoon, Sterling Shackles” is a terrible title! I prefer the simpler “Prominent Family!”
But on the other hand, I think Kenneth is able to carry a series better than Ron. But then most people would be watching cos of Damian Lau.
Between Kenneth and Ron, it’s quite obvious Kenneth will be the one to carry this series since THC was a success.
Damian is the main factor I regret to miss in this series.
