Johnson Lee’s “Office of Practical Jokes” May Not Get Second Series

Johnson Lee’s (李思捷) reality prank show, Office of Practical Jokes <玩嘢王>, continued to dominate the television ratings on Saturday night. Last weekend, the episode achieved an average rating of 24 points – approximately 1.54 million viewers – and topped TVB’s online myTV chart with over 202,000 views.

TVB held a celebration banquet for the cast and crew of the comedy show at TVB Studios today. Pranked TVB artists, including Linda Chung (鍾嘉欣), Jason Chan (陳智燊), Sire Ma (馬賽), Bob Lam (林盛斌), and Alfred Hui (許廷鏗) also attended. The artists punished Johnson’s trickster behavior by force-feeding him noodles with their hands, and Johnson finally admitting his defeat in the end.

Despite the show’s critical and popular success, Johnson expressed that TVB currently has no plans to extend the show to a few more episodes. The prankster also stated that renewing the show for a second series “will be difficult, because everyone is scared of [him] now.” Johnson joked that many of his TVB colleagues are now avoiding him whenever they see him, “I also made friends with those I pranked, so it’s been a great experience.”

Johnson admitted that producing the last two episodes will be difficult due to the show’s already very-public reception. “Personally, I think we should have finished the show before airing it, but because there was an empty time slot, TVB decided to broadcast it earlier.” Which episode was his most successful one? “All the episodes were emotionally satisfying. They were all unforgettable.”

Establishes New Production Company

Johnson revealed that he has just established his own production studio, and disclosed that his company will begin to produce its first film in August of this year. “It’s a dream of mine to direct my own work, but I will not leave TVB,” the actor-singer insisted. “Many people watch TVB, so there’s no reason for me to leave. It’s easier to promote my work in a popular station.”

Johnson recently signed a 9-year-old child actress to his company, praising, “She is studious, intelligent, and loves to sing and act. I hope to cultivate her into a big star. As long as you have talent, you will [reach success]. You don’t need to be at least 18 years old to do that.”

Linda Chung’s Romance with Philip Ng is “Steady”

Linda Chung never directly admitted to dating action star Philip Ng (伍允龍), but their relationship remains to be an open secret to the media. Recently, reports have indicated that Linda had broken up with Philip, as the 29-year-old actress has reportedly fallen for her Missing You <幸福摩天輪> costar, Jason Chan. Rookie singer, Desmond Pang (彭紀諺), was also added in to the mix.

“I never had so many rumors until now,” laughed Linda. Are they real? “Not telling! My private matters are handled quietly.” Handling it well? Linda smiled, “Yes.”

Linda expressed her hopes to expand her social network and meet more friends this year. She clarified her rumors with Desmond, stressing, “I’m really happy now. I’ve always been dedicated to my career, but I really need to work harder this year.” (So you can get married afterwards?) “If I can, I will.” (Do you have a lover?) “I can feel some honey on me.”

On the discussion about TVB artists recently leaving the station, Linda said, “I don’t want to think about it at the moment. I just renewed my contract last year. The conditions of the contract have not changed. I only got an increase in salary.” Asked if Linda plans to fight for an award at the end of the year, she said, “I really don’t know how to campaign for an award. As long as I have good working conditions and am satisfied with my job, then I will be happy.”

As for Sire Ma, Jason’s other rumored girlfriend, she admitted that she currently has a pursuer and is considering him. “He is not in this industry. We are not dating yet, but I will look into it.”

Jason clarified once again that his romantic rumors with Linda and Sire are false, saying, “We are just friends. My career comes first right now.”

Jason, who was pranked into attending an audition for an action film, admitted that he still fell for the trick despite having initial suspicions. “I was suspicious at first because kung fu is not my specialty; also, [the casting director] was intentionally picking on me, but I still fell for it. I’m not upset, but I’m relieved because I don’t need to practice [kung fu] anymore.”
