Benjamin Yuen Enjoys New Lifestyle

Benjamin Yuen (袁偉豪), now 45, has appeared in far fewer television dramas in recent years. Recently stepping into a behind-the-scenes role as producer for a new song by Wong Ka-ming (王嘉明), better known as “Baldy” from Aces Go Places <最佳拍檔>, the actor addressed netizens’ talk that he no longer needed to work because of his comfortable lifestyle!
Morphing into His New Role of a “Family Man”
Rejecting the idea that he had “disappeared”, Ben said, “Over the past few years I’ve entered another stage of life,” he said. “I got married, started a family and had a child. I’m learning how to be a father, how to be the family driver — all of these are gifts,”
As for suggestions that he is financially comfortable enough that he “doesn’t need to work”, he laughed them off. “If I really didn’t need to work, then I really wouldn’t work — I’d just say goodbye and call it a day!” he joked. “But you still have to find something to fill your days,”
Besides his involvement in film post-production and financing, Ben also prioritizes at this stage is simple, “As long as you can find happiness, that’s enough,”
With his acting output significantly reduced, the actor has been enjoying considerably more time with his family, and was previously photographed taking the MTR with his wife and young son, experiencing a more ordinary, down-to-earth family life.
However, Ben’s domestic life has also become something of a running joke among netizens, who pointed to how he previously joked that he needed to seek his wife’s approval before buying a luxury guitar costing more than HK$40,000, and that he hoped his wife would “respect” his wishes. This led netizens to tease him about having a rather lowly position within the household.
Not Forgetting His Former Crew Members
Yet when it comes to former colleagues and behind-the-scenes crew members he has worked with over the years, Yuen remains notably generous.
At a recent private gathering with the cast and crew of The Defected <鐵探>, he voluntarily picked up the bill for everyone, a gesture that was seen as evidence of how much he continues to value the friendships and working relationships built during his career.
After seeing photographs from the gathering, netizens praised him for being generous and loyal to his old colleagues, with comments such as, “As expected of the rich son-in-law — very generous indeed,” and “Heaven Brother really values friendship and loyalty.”
Many also expressed hopes that Yuen will eventually make a fuller return to acting, particularly in the kind of substantial dramatic roles that earned him acclaim in series such as The Defected and Line Walker <使徒行者>.
