Bowie Cheung Reflects on Postpartum Recovery Journey

Welcoming a baby boy last November,  Benjamin Yuen (袁偉豪) and Bowie Cheung (張寶兒) are over the moon. The first-time mother often shares tidbits of their life as parents on social media with fans and friends. In a recent video, Bowie openly shared about her labor and delivery experience, as well as her postpartum recovery.

Opting to deliver the baby via Caesarean section, Bowie said, “One of the reasons is because my dad said the baby’s head would be rounder and it would be safer for the baby.” Another reason is to accommodate Benjamin’s work schedule. Since the surgical option was scheduled in advance, the couple wanted to ensure Benjamin would be present for the baby’s delivery.

Although Bowie suffered from an allergic reaction due to sensitivity to antibiotics, her pregnancy, labor and delivery, and postpartum recovery has been relatively smooth Her postpartum pains and surgical scar healed quickly. Although first time mothers often experience breastfeeding difficulties, Bowie was fortunately an over-supplier, allowing her son to be fully breastfed.
