Alex Fong Becomes a Dad

45-year-old “Little Flying Fish” Alex Fong Lik Sun (方力申) announced his marriage on Valentine’s Day, February 14 this year, tying the knot with his non-celebrity girlfriend Maple Ye Xuan (葉萱), who is 14 years his junior, with a wedding ceremony in California.

Baby Girl Arrives Early

On Father’s Day, Fong revealed another piece of joyful news that Maple was expecting. Today, he took to social media, updating that Maple had given birth ahead of her due date to a baby girl named Isla, with both mother and daughter safe and well!

Overjoyed as a first-time father, Fong uploaded a video on social media and shared his happiness while expressing heartfelt thanks to Hong Kong Gleneagles’ Hospital’s medical team. He wrote, “Today was originally my wife Maple’s due date, but little Isla couldn’t wait to meet us and decided to arrive a few days early. Huge thanks to the professional care team at Gleneagles Hospital, especially the staff at the 3A ward and the delivery suite.”

Alex thanked the obstetrician Dr Wendy Shu for her incredibly attentiveness and for taking good care of Maple, encouraging her to deliver naturally, and anesthesiologist Lydia, who administered an epidural which allowed the delivery to go smoothly. He also gave a shoutout to pediatrician Dr Euan So — who’s also the uncle of his godson Nico, for treating Isla immediately when she had a slight fever at birth, so it subsided that very night.

Planning for More Kids Down the Road

Revealing how he found it “amazing” that baby Isla’s looks appeared to be changing everyday, Alex added, “2025 is truly a very special year for Maple and me. From after we got married, Maple said she could have four kids; during the pregnancy, when things got really tough, she said maybe two would be enough. Now that Isla has arrived and we’ve received so much support throughout the process, she says three might be possible. Hehe. Thank you all so much — I’ll try my luck with the fourth later. See you again in one or two years!”

In the video, Fong documented the entire journey from hospital admission to the baby’s discharge. He also revealed that Maple described her emotions pre-delivery as being like a “roller-coaster ride” — eagerly lining up for a ride she had long wanted to take, feeling both excited and nervous at the same time. After the smooth delivery, Fong took on the responsibility of cutting the umbilical cord, then ended the video with a family portrait.

Many celebrity friends including Joey Yung (容祖兒), Louis Cheung (張繼聰) and Kay Tse (謝安琪), as well as Grace Wong (王君馨), Nancy Wu (胡定欣), Bob Lam (林盛斌) and Jennifer Yu (余香凝) left well-meaning messages congratulating the family and wished baby good health!
