Bowie Cheung Does Not Know If She Replaced Ali Lee in “Children’s Hospital”
Although TVB artiste Bowie Cheung (張寶兒) has landed a meaty role of an anesthesiologist in the highly anticipated upcoming drama Children’s Hospital <兒童醫院>, her accomplishment has been bogged down with rumors. Reportedly, the 28-year-old replaced TV Queen Ali Lee (李佳芯) in the series due to Ali’s past controversial post that upset a lot of Mainland Chinese netizens. After staying silent for some time, Bowie finally addressed the reports in an interview at the blessing ceremony of All Things Girl <姊妹淘>.
Bowie shared, “To be honest, I already accepted this role three months ago, and I have been preparing for it since. In terms of replacement, I don’t know, but I do know that [Ali] has a lot more experience, so I can’t even compare to her. I am very grateful for this opportunity because I haven’t had a lot of acting chances. I want to thank the company for trusting me with this role, and I will try my best.”
In the series, the rookie actress will be starring opposite Him Law (羅仲謙) in a lot of scenes. She expressed that she is facing some pressure, given her inexperience in acting. Luckily, she believes that having studied biology in the past will help with memorizing the script.
Moreover, she said her boyfriend Benjamin Yuen (袁偉豪) relayed to her a supportive message from Kara Wai (惠英紅), who he was filming with yesterday. “She encouraged me by saying that acting is very versatile and that I need to trust my ability,” Bowie disclosed.
When reporters asked if she would ask Kara for further guidance, Bowie said Kara’s encouragement was already enough. “I will ask Ben if I don’t understand, but I can also go to the director, producer, and other cast members for help.”
She shared that the drama will commence filming on July 18. “I don’t know my own schedule, but I will probably start in early August,” Bowie revealed.
