“Eternal Love: The Pillow Book” Rumored to Air in January 2020

The Pillow Book <三生三世枕上书>, the sequel spin-off to 2017’s highly successful Eternal Love <三生三世十里桃花> television series starring Yang Mi (杨幂) and Mark Chao (赵又廷), is rumored to be getting a January 2020 release.

The romantic drama sees Dilireba (迪丽热巴) and Vengo Gao (高伟光) reprising their Eternal Love roles as they’re sent off to a tumultuous romance. The show was shot in 2018.

The January 2020 broadcast time, however, is not confirmed by Tencent Video, the show’s main distributor. According to reports, the broadcast rumor was spread on other streaming sites, which released teasers revealing that there was only 70 days left The Pillow Book’s broadcast.

Many fans of the series are skeptical of the release date, commenting that they will wait for Tencent Video’s official announcement.

In August, China’s National Radio and Television Administration (NRTA) announced that it will temporarily halt the broadcasts of television dramas with “high entertainment value.” For 100 days starting August 1, television dramas comprised of positive and motivational messages with educational value will air instead, to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the People’s Republic of China. The NRTA has already hand-picked 86 dramas to air throughout the year.

Because The Pillow Book is a fantasy idol drama, it is unlikely that it will make it to January 2020 broadcast.
