Donnie Yen to Star in “Kung Fu” Film

Donnie Yen’s (甄子丹) next Hollywood project is Kung Fu, a film adaptation of the classic 1970s television series of the same name. The original action-adventure series had starred David Carradine in the main role as Kwai Chang Caine, a Shaolin monk who armed with his spiritual training and martial arts skills, travels in search of his half-brother.

On casting Donnie as the lead in Kung Fu, producer David Leitch is full of praises. “Donnie is an extremely talented actor. He is also a legend in action movies. The opportunity to work alongside a true martial arts master to direct this international project is our honor.”

Due to Donnie’s successful career and recognizability in both the Eastern and Western markets, the international star is an outstanding choice for the principal role of Kwai Chang Caine. Coupled with his martial arts expertise and star power, the new remake is sure to draw in a new generation of global viewers.

  1. I was hoping for an entirely new action drama as Donnie Yen’s first lead role in Hollywood. Oh well, at least David Leitch is attached to direct so it’s a good sign. Here’s hoping for a good overall movie.
