Mandy Wong Denies Being the Reason Behind Benjamin Yuen and Jennifer Shum’s Breakup

It’s been known for a while that Mandy Wong (黃智雯) has a non-celebrity boyfriend, but that didn’t stop tabloids from linking her with various costars. After a dating rumor with Ruco Chan (陳展鵬), she is now rumored to be dating Benjamin Yuen (袁偉豪), and that she was the main reason behind Benjamin’s breakup with Jennifer Shum (岑杏賢).

Benjamin and Jennifer dated for three years before announcing their split via social media this past weekend. While Benjamin denied to further comment, Jennifer gave a very simple yet straightforward response to her breakup announcement:

“Thank you for everyone’s concerns. I’ve calmed. Don’t worry about me. We broke up amicably. I don’t want to divulge the details, but there was closure.”

Tabloids were to quick to report that Mandy, Benjamin’s costar in The Hippocratic Crush <On Call 36小時> and the upcoming Three Women, One ‘Gene’ <三個女人一個「因」>, was the reason behind their breakup. The report said Mandy and Benjamin had grown extremely close over the years, and that Benjamin had always been very popular with the ladies. Jennifer allegedly knew about this, and tried to rush Benjamin into marriage.

This non-factual report was immediately debunked by both Mandy and Benjamin. While they admit to having a close friendship, they denied hooking up.

“Benjamin Yuen and I have collaborated many times together,” said Mandy. “We are close and we’ve found our chemistry. We do hang out outside of work, but that’s usually with a group of mutual friends. Sometimes Benjamin’s girlfriend would be with us too!” (Are you worried that your boyfriend would mind the reports?) “Not at all!”

Benjamin said, “I’m very close with my Crazy Runner brothers and sisters. We are also good work partners. Nothing about that report is true. Jennifer was a really good girlfriend. She had dedicated a lot of her time into this relationship.”
