Mandy Wong Embraces New Changes

Over her 16-year career at TVB, Mandy Wong’s (黃智雯) performances have been widely praised. Her role in Threesome <三個女人一個「因> earned her two awards, including Malaysia’s Most Favorite TVB Actress. Leaving TVB and signing with Super Art Entertainment last year, she became colleagues with Athena Chu (朱茵) and Ada Choi (蔡少芬).

Jumping out of her comfort zone and hoping to challenge herself, Mandy ventured into a completely different environment. Reminiscing her experience as a young newcomer, Mandy explained how nervous she was working alongside Liza Wang (汪明荃). “In the past 10 years, I’ve grown up from being that nervous girl. Even though I did receive training, it was still very nerve-racking. I became more relaxed after I was given more opportunities and met Myolie Wu (胡杏兒) while working on A Chip Off the Old Block <巴不得爸爸>.

To Mandy, acting is like playing a video game with multiple levels – each level gets harder and harder but it allows you to gain experience. Maintaining a good relationship with TVB, Mandy expressed she will gladly return to film in the future.

Besides making big career shifts, Mandy also married her longtime boyfriend in 2023. Apart from giving out double red pockets during Lunar New Year, Mandy laughed and explained nothing else seems different. After getting married, Mandy disclosed she enjoyed sharing all her worries with her husband and did not bottle up her emotions anymore.

Talking about her goals in the Year of the Dragon, Mandy hoped to try different types of work, whether they were movies, music, or musical theater. She also wanted to work with new directors and artistes, especially award-winning legends such as Anthony Wong (黃秋生), Chan Leung Poon (潘燦良), Tse Kwan Ho (謝君豪), Tony Leung (梁朝偉), and Andy Lau (劉德華).
