Matthew Ho Keen to Pair with Rebecca Zhu Again

Entering the industry after completing the 26th artiste training class, 33-year-old Matthew Ho (何廣沛) shone in his role as the younger version of Lawrence Ng (吳啟華) in Never Dance Alone <女人俱樂部> and received many acting opportunities. Not only did he win “Most Improved Actor” award at the 2018 Anniversary Awards, he was later promoted to first male lead, helming the currently airing drama Used Good <異搜店>.

Knows His Shortcomings in Acting

However, as the drama was given the end 2021 slot, it failed to qualify for the 2021 TVB Anniversary Awards and would likely escape viewers’ memory by the time the 2022 awards came around. Cool about this, Matthew replied, “As long as the show could be aired to viewers, it has achieved its goal, some commented that anniversary and new year slots perennially get poor rankings, yet Life On The Line <跳躍生命線>and The Dripping Sauce <大醬園> both scored fairly strong viewership ratings, I believe that good dramas will definitely have its audience. In contrast I’m concerned about when Story of Zom-B <食腦喪B> will air on TVB Jade,”

Conscious of his own shortcomings, Matthew expressed his feelings about awards, “It’s not easy to get Best Actor [accolade], I’ve many areas to improve on and even if you give it to me now, I don’t want it too as I’m not [there] yet!”

Miss Hong Kong Magnet…?

(Left) Romantically linked with co-star Hera Chan; (Right) With rumored girlfriend Rebecca Zhu in 2019

With talk of romantic sparks swirling between them in A General, A Scholar and An Eunuch <超時空男臣>, the 33-year-old and Rebecca Zhu (朱晨麗) have long been seen an unofficial pair – something which both have neither denied nor admitted to. As Miss Hong Kong 2018 Winner and actress Hera Chan (陳曉華) was said to be drawn to Matthew after collaborating on the set of Used Good,  the good-looking lad is thus rumored to be entangled with two Miss Hong Kongs!

Helpless about the tabloid news, he explained, “We film together 24/7 and it is normal [for co-stars] to head for toilet breaks together, Kei-jie (Yvonne Lam 林漪娸) also mentioned online about me accompanying her to the toilet, this is gentlemanly manners, moreover teamwork is a big part of filming; during the worst of the pandemic, the rules allowed just 2 persons per table, Hera and I shared a table and other crew members are all sitting close by, it can’t be considered sitting together.”

Looks Forward to Next Pairing with Rebecca

Having co-starred with Rebecca twice in A General, A Scholar and An Eunuch and later in The Dripping Sauce, Matthew hopes they can renew their onscreen pairing again. “Both dramas had good responses, recently I watched the replay of The Dripping Sauce, the ending is a little regretful, hopefully there can be a sequel or new story to work together with Rebecca on,” With so many temptations in entertainment, Matthew professes that everyone he works with on set will definitely be a good-looker; since it is difficult to gain a partner’s trust with mere talk, he uses his actions to get trust. Probed about whether Rebecca trusts him, Matthew responded, “Gotta ask her!”

  1. BEST ACTOR AWARD ? THIS MAN CANT EVEN ACT, FOR HEAVENS SAKE..
I PERSONALLY DISLIKE HIS VOICE WHEN I SEE HIM ON-SCREEN ..

    1. Yeah, he’s definitely the same in every drama. I didn’t mind him as a host with Do Do. At times i felt Hera acted better than Matthew in Used Good.

  2. If there’s an award for most times hospitalised role in a drama, he will win hands down.
