Owen Cheung and Brian Chu Become Good Friends

Due to their frequent partnership, Owen Cheung (張振朗) and Brian Chu (朱敏瀚) became close friends and their chemistry is reflected on screen. Brian often has to hold back laughter while filming with Owen. Recently wrapping up The Ringmaster <拳王> together, Brian said he has seen Owen more often than his own family.

The actors have had a fruitful year and reaped the results of their hard work during the 2020 TVB Anniversary Awards, sweeping up multiple awards for their performances in Al Cappuccino <反黑路人甲>. The cast was very supportive and cheered for each other when the Anniversary Awards winners were announced, and Owen’s eyes welled up with tears when he saw Brian accept the Most Improved Actor award and gain recognition for his hard work.

When the actors filmed for boxing-themed drama The Ringmaster, they exchanged dieting and workout tips to achieve more defined physiques. Owen would drink a daily concoction of blended chicken meat, milk powder, and would sometimes add in half a banana to help with muscle development. When Brian tried the mixture, he threw up right away so he decided to eat chicken fillets or potatoes every day instead.

In The Ringmaster, Owen and Brian have a love triangle with actress Jacky Choi (蔡潔). The actress said she was relieved most of her screen were romantic scenes. “I’m glad I did not have any fighting scenes. I saw that [Owen and Brian] had many boxing scenes, and they would need to go for training classes after filming hours. Basically, they had no time to sleep. My scenes had only dialogue, so they were more comfortable.”
