“The Queen of News” Stars Hold Fan Meeting While Breaking Viewership Record

To promote TVB drama The Queen of News <新聞女王>, Charmaine Sheh (佘詩曼), Kenneth Ma (馬國明), Selena Lee (李施嬅) and Regina Ho (何依婷) held a series of fan meetings. The drama has premiered in China and it has already broken the record for the most watched TVB drama of all time with over 1 million views.

Hoping to generate more buzz, Charmaine, Kenneth, Selena and Regina attended two fan meetings in Beijing and then the three actresses subsequently appeared in a live stream. As fans gathered to support the cast, they were asked what they would do if the series exceeded their expectations. Charmaine responded, “Make a sequel!” Regina and Selena nodded in agreement and expressed their interest in filming together again.

At the fan meeting, the four artistes played games with the audience. Charmaine took the opportunity to tease Kenneth and his upcoming wedding with Roxanne Tang (湯洛雯). During a game, Kenneth was forced to answer “of course” no matter what was asked. So when Charmaine asked if Roxanne was already pregnant before the wedding, Kenneth laughed, took off his ring and was forced to answer, “Of course! Do you see my hand?”

Following the fan meeting, Charmaine was asked about her prank and she responded, “We were just playing. I like to  ask about everything and Kenneth doesn’t mind it either!”

Kenneth also shared, “We played games to create the mood. They also asked if Charmaine really hated Regina and she had to answer, ‘Of course.’”

After attending the fan meeting, Kenneth returned to Hong Kong the next day to film Flight Diary <飛常日誌>. When complimented for his skillful Mandarin, Kenneth said, “I think my Mandarin is Ok. They like to hear my Hong Kong accent. I finally understand why Lai Lok Yi’s (黎諾懿) Hong Kong accent is so popular!”

As for Regina’s thoughts on the fan meetings, the actress revealed that she was happy to be able to participate, “It was my first time going to Mainland for a promotion. I was able to interact with the audience up close and play games.”
