On an old episode of TVB’s long-running game show Movie Buff Championship <超級無敵奬門人>, actress and host Priscilla Wong (黃翠如) was made to name some of fellow actor Tony Hung’s (洪永城) flaws, when she responded on the spur of the moment, “He is not handsome, and has tooth decay”.
Netizens Urges Tony to Get Dental Treatment
While most might assume it was a tongue-in-cheek comment in the spirit of the show, recent scenes in the drama From Hong Kong to Beijing <香港人在北京> had netizens voice out similar comments, as they complained about being “most afraid to see Tony Hung with his mouth wide open”, as it exposed his tooth cavities onscreen!
Netizens went as far as sharing screengrabs of the comedy series online, where the 39-year-old actor’s grey-black colored, old-style mercury amalgam fillings were clearly visible, recalling how that his co-star Priscilla had brought up the issue of his tooth cavities on a past episode. Dentists have largely replaced dental amalgam fillings in favour of natural-looking porcelain fillings or composite fillings made of resin in recent years.
