Will Stephen Chan Return to TVB Management?

Joining Commercial Radio Hong Kong (CRHK) as CEO not long after relinquishing his General Manager position at TVB in 2012, industry veteran and TV host Stephen Chan (陳志雲) became Chief Advisor in 2014. As he prepares to bid goodbye to listeners of his soon-to-end radio program On A Clear Day <在晴朗的一天出發>, many netizens are speculating on his upcoming career moves.
Back to Replace Eric Tsang?
On January 9, Stephen uploaded short clips which showed him posing a photo with TVBuddy, the broadcaster’s mascot at TVB City in Tseung Kwan O. Shown striding towards the gantry entrance, the 67-year-old wrote, “I’ve left more than a few leg hairs on this footpath, having spent 18 years here…”
With Stephen’s visit to TVB coinciding with Eric Tsang’s (曾志偉) recent stepping down as General Manager, netizens are speculating if Stephen might be returning to the broadcaster as GM, the rumors evoking widespread nostalgia for new episodes of the classic chat show Be My Guest <志雲飯局>!
Clarifying the rumors, Assistant General Manager of Corporate Communications Bonnie Wong (黃德慧) responded to media queries. “All along, the company has yet to get in touch with this veteran. Currently, we do not have any openings for Content Development management roles. As Mr Tsang has progressively handed over his duties to four variety department producers in the year prior to his transition into a consultant role, his work has been properly arranged. Knowing that our senior enjoyed revisiting old haunts brought us joy as well.”
