Xiao Zhan and Ren Min’s “The Longest Promise” to Premiere in August

Starring Xiao Zhan (肖戰) and Ren Min (任敏), upcoming drama The Longest Promise <玉骨遙> is gearing up its premiere in August. Fans are thrilled to end the summer with a high-quality wuxia, with many hoping The Longest Promise will live up to its expectations.

CCTV and China News Service have also listed The Longest Promise as one of the dramas to look out for in August, which reinforced fans’ belief that it could air anytime soon.

Since  The Longest Promise completed filming a year ago, fans could only rewatch the trailer to quench their thirst before the official broadcast. Currently, there are over 3 million people who have reserved the series to be on their to-watch list. Despite this, viewers hope that the special effects will deliver visually impactful scenes.

These concerns were raised after Yang Zi (楊紫) and Cheng Yi’s (成毅) xianxia Immortal Samsara <沉香如屑> got bombarded by criticisms of its poor CGI effects.

Some fear The Longest Promise may experience the same fate, but others remain hopeful as they rave over the visual quality in the trailers and praise the compatibility of Xiao Zhan and Ren Min.

  1. Goodness, I never understood what is the attraction of applying so much make up on men in C-dramas…touch up I understand but red lips and white skin…

    1. I agree with you. In general they often try to use the foundation lighter on the face than the neck or whatever on both males and females. Also too much lipstick for the men. It drives me crazy with that.

  2. Some dramas this year got so much hype but failed to live up to it. So I hope this drama lives up to the hype.

  3. I love Xiao Zhan, but I have xianxia fatigue, so I’ll have to skip this one until I hear feedback from the general public.
