“You Are My Glory” Accused of Inflating Viewership

Dilraba Dilmurat (迪麗熱巴) and Yang Yang’s (楊洋) summer hit romance You Are My Glory <你是我的榮耀>made its debut on July 26 and has already accumulated 1 billion views to-date! However, a netizen disclosed that the drama may have inflated its viewership numbers.

Airing on Tencent, You Are My Glory features the platform’s video game Honor of Kings <王者荣耀> which is prominently featured in the drama. The netizen claimed that in order to boost viewership numbers, the company required its gamers watch five minutes of the drama as a mission.

Many of the gamers were angry, as they obviously did not want to watch the drama and just wanted to game. They claimed that it was a scam, and that many of the views for You Are My Glory are from reluctant gamers.

However, some netizens stood up for the drama stating that no one forced the gamers to watch–they still had the option to not game. As well, watching five minutes of the drama likely would not have helped increase the streaming views.

They also accused the whistleblower as part of a rival video game company who tried to start a boycott. Others chimed in to say that they have also played the game before, and were never asked to watch the drama.

As online disagreements continued, Dilraba and Yang Yang have not stepped up to clarify the rumors.

  1. Honestly, why should Dilraba and Yang Yang have not stepped up to clarify the rumors? They are actors, not working marketing department. They do not own this Production…they are just paid to do their task..

  2. Truthfully this drama is well made and it’s got some good message for young adults. There are other drama(s) that have achieve more viewers count faster, hence, I don’t understand this Rumer. I believe this viewer’s count reflect the overall production value of this drama.
