Zhu Yilong Garners Praises in “Reunion: The Sound of Providence”

The highly popular The Lost Tomb <盜墓筆記> series delighted fans with its third installment, Reunion: The Sound of Providence <重启之极海听雷>, recently. The latest season features a new cast comprised of mainland Chinese actors Zhu Yilong (朱一龙), Chen Minghao (陈明昊), Huang Junjie (黄俊捷), and Liu Chang (刘畅). Viewers are already fervently discussing the drama after watching six episodes. They praised the tight and well-paced storyline as well as the performance of Yilong.

Reunion: The Sound of Providence follows the story of the “Iron Triangle” brothers Wu Xie (played by Yilong), Wang Pang Zi (played by Minghao), and Zhang Qiling (played by Junjie). After 10 years, they reunite to take on another risky adventure after receiving a strange message from Wu Sansheng.

The reunion takes place after Tomb of the Sea <沙海>, which means Wu Xie is roughly 40 years old and suffering from lung disease. Rather than focusing on such sorrows, the third installment revitalizes the character with hope and motivation by giving him another chance to go on a mission. Wu Xie experiences a range of emotions with his character development, which helps the audience to empathize with him and understand his role.

Viewers are happy to see Yilong embody the character of the middle-aged Wu Xie by showing great maturity while maintaining a youthful quality in his curiosity and naivety. They particularly praised Yilong for displaying Wu Xie’s “worldly but not snobbish” trait and mastering the craft of playing with emotions. The audience is looking forward to seeing his diverse portrayal throughout the drama. Aside from Yilong’s superb performance, they are also a fan of the detailed storyline, production, and characters.
