Charmaine Sheh Not Interested in Staying at TVB?

After the commercial success of Line Walker <使徒行者> last year, Charmaine Sheh (佘詩曼) won Best Actress in Hong Kong and across Southeast Asia. TVB continued to feature Charmaine in movies invested by the station, including Triumph in the Skies <衝上雲霄> and the upcoming Line Walker. However, it is speculated Charmaine has no intentions of staying at TVB after her contract ends.

Charles Chan’s Offer Goes To Waste

After Richard Li’s (李澤楷) Hong Kong Television Entertainment received their broadcasting license, the station has been recruiting artistes. One of the top choices is Charmaine.

To persuade Charmaine to stay at TVB, Chairman Charles Chan (陳國強) personally invited the actress for a group dinner. Unfortunately, Charles was unable to persuade Charmaine, who did not show any intentions of renewing her contract. Frustrated, Charles left dinner in a foul mood.

Charles also invited many artistes to dinner to improve morale. Attendees included Kate Tsui (徐子珊), Sammy Sum (沈震軒), Lai Lok Yi (黎諾懿), Evergreen Mak (麥長青), and highly promoted newcomers Sisley Choi (蔡思貝) and Moon Lau (劉佩玥).

  1. I guess she finally decided to go for $$$ in the mainland rather than remain her fame in Hong Kong.

  2. Everyone is going to mainland China at one point in their career, because they offer much more money compared to TVB. The result is that many leading roles are offered to people with no experience or not much experience at all.

Besides working in the mainland however, I predict many former lead TVB actors and actresses working for another TV station in HK.

TV war is coming in HK with TVB, Hong Kong Television Entertainment, Fantastic TV and another TV station (HKTV or another company) competing for the viewers. Finally, viewers have more choice which TV series to watch.

I think viewers have had many other choices of what to watch for years now like China, Korea, Taiwan,etc.. But of course,if you are referring to HK only then yes, viewers will have more and hopefully better choices since TVb is very bad now.

Who does not age? But the most important thing is to age well and gracefully. Those who are more natural will definately age a lot better than those that have had plastic surgery, lots of botox and other stuff done to them.

  3. Maybe she thinks she is a movie star now… Wonder, who are the cast left in the station now? Looking forward to Nancy now…

  4. I wouldn’t want to stay in TVB if I were Charmaine Sheh either. There is absolutely no competition among actresses in TVB. Everyone else is newbie or almost newbie. Moreover, Charmaine Sheh was always close to Mui Siu Ching who highly promoted her in the past. I think if Mui Siu Ching invited her to join her in NowTV, Charmaine would easily accept it if she is not under any contract with TVB. I don’t blame her. There is no competitive actors to pair up with her in future drama series, except maybe Moses Chan and Kevin Cheng. Kevin does not film many drama series with TVB now.

I wish her best of luck and more success in her future acting career. It is about time for her to make a good decision for her own self and have more freedom to select her own roles.

    1. @zuizui TVB is known to be one of the lowest rate in pay for their drama and the work hours is like 12hr to 16hr a day.

While in mainland people get much higher pay at least triple the amount and with less hours work day.

  5. More like she’s not in a hurry to sign any management company, period.

She might have another movie this year (according to Louis they will have another movie together, so idk) but most of her time are filming advertisement/atttending events and personal vacation.

Currently, she’s taking her time enjoying life with friends and family after completing Return of the Cuckoo movie.
